Reality vs illusion.

Reality vs illusion.

I wonder were people to see their true selves would they strive to better themselves or would they just destroy all mirrors. so many people hate themselves yet hide it all away deluding themselves into believing their own rhetoric monologue, hiding within the illusion and ego why do they not seek improvement or allow the freedom to relieve the soul, why do so many if not all deny their vulnerabilities we are a weak species we were wrongly provided this intellectual capacity for our own self preservation, as on no other level can we compete with other predators, I say wrongly provided because obviously arrogance, ego and greed to the point of complete environmental obliteration without consideration of anything but our personal comfort and pride is insane.

of course this relates only to the majority of people I have met/known during the course of my life so far, others may provide hope but I cannot take it on faith some things need to be tangible

Cry havoc! And let slip the dogs of war.

To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, ’tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish’d. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there’s the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there’s the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor’s wrong, the proud man’s contumely,
The pangs of despised love, the law’s delay,
The insolence of office and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover’d country from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o’er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action.–Soft you now!
The fair Ophelia! Nymph, in thy orisons
Be all my sins remember’d.

Re: Reality vs illusion.

Hi @Former-Member

i am a big fan of movies independent in some cases have potential but a lot fall well short, cult movies on the other hand are among my favourites I also enjoy the classic twilight zone tv show. I used to read a lot, mostly things like Stephen king, Michael Crichton, dean koontz, though things like 1984, braves new world, and animal farm, but my reading has fallen away a lot but I watch a lot of movies, and invent my own strange stuff.

it is interesting to think of such things

Re: Reality vs illusion.

@Redraw Hello there,

I was watching what I thought to be a very interesting documentary the other day. It was related to quantum physics and touched on the debate between Einstein and Bohr. Entanglement and Spooky action.

For whatever reason I immediately thought of this thread. Number of synchronistic themes occured to me particularly the reality vs illusion title I guess but also some of the content.

I would think you are familiar with what I am talking about, but of course I could be wrong about that. If you are, do you have any thoughts on any aspect of either the debate or the theories themselves? I know it has come a long way since originally, but still the fact Einstein was so convinced Bohr had to be wrong is very interesting to me. Does any of it pique your interest for any reason?

Re: Reality vs illusion.

Dr @Former-Member .. "the nature of everything"... connecting to reality through nature is almost primordial I think. To relate that to my post re entanglement.... we are all connected, so it would only be natural, if that is the case, to feel grounding when we are mindful in nature. I think that speaks to us, on a deeper level, if we allow it or are open to it.

Just my thoughts, but it's very quantum related too.

Re: Reality vs illusion.

@Former-Member Whilst I like those dystopian and horror stories primarily because I see correlations between those worlds and these, I like a lot of science fiction, comedy and well most types of movie, alot of current movies I find wanting I have no interest in most of today's horror I like the older stuff due to the hilarity in it. I think there would be areas of overlap possibly less in literature than in movies, I do guess I tend towards the mystery and have ranged from the 40's to now, but I love kids movies too

@Former-Member when it comes to quantum mechanics I find it a bit outside my scope philosophically I could understand it if I wished but I prefer that which I can quantify,

Re: Reality vs illusion.

Yum @Redraw. Think you're a better cook than me. So do you rarely cook? What have you been living on? Or are you like me - sausages, vegies and mash potatoes. Simple food.
Good to hear from you. How have you been?

Re: Reality vs illusion.

Cooking i do rarely but when I do cook I make a fair bit I only tend to eat a real meal once a day so the pork lasted nearly a week, I still have two weeks of wontons in the freezer, I been having sandwiches of late so rather easy
