Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

I have multiple mental illnesses including Bipolar 2, cptsd, OCD, social anxiety. I’m also neurodivergent, ADHD and ASD. I already have tons of labels and a lot going on. I’m getting assessed for an ED on Monday during my psych appointment, I reckon I meet criteria so I am anticipating another diagnosis. I know it explains my how I’ve been feeling but it’s another label, I hate feeling so broken and feeling like I’m complicated. I know my disordered eating habits are adversely affecting my mental and physical health, I’ve just been in denial for so long and would also get defensive when people commented on my eating habits or asked about them.

@tyme it’s working now, that was so weird. Not sure what happened.

I don’t know about T2 one. I get the Love Tea one. It’s decent quality for the price. I have mine in water, but you could have it in milk. I’ve tasted it in coconut milk, it wasn’t bad. Matcha isn’t a miracle product, but I do think it can improve mood and adhd symptoms a bit. It’s relaxing to drink and I get withdrawal symptoms if I don’t have it. I think I get the paradoxical caffeine calming effects, it also has l’theanine which is also calming

I only have it because I like the taste @creative_writer . Not for any health benefits, otherwise I wouldn't get it from Maccas or Starbucks!

They load theirs with sugar!

I went to costco to see if I could find any and there was none. So I looked at T2. I haven't bought it yet, but I'd like to at some stage.

@tyme they would load them in sugar. I tend to drink my own matcha and bring it with me when I’m out. I don’t like overly sweet drinks. I don’t feel like lots of sugar is good for my migraines and mental health. I think it’s better having more stable glucose levels than fluctuating. I also have lots of gut issues.

You should be able to find matcha is many stores. It’s become super popular, it doesn’t only taste so good but looks aesthetic.

Hi @creative_writer , I'm doing OK today. How are you?

Waiting for one of my dogs to tell me she wants to come back in. I got sick of waiting for her because she was standing at the door and didn't want to come in. Then she ran off back into the yard, so door is shut and she will come and tell me when she wants it open lol. But she came to me earlier when I called her, so she got cuddles and praise for that lol - and I didn't want to force her to come inside when she didn't want to, because I didn't want to "punish" her for coming when called!

@AlwaysMyself I had an appointment heavy day today, so feeling the effects, might have triggered something in me. It’s been a really hot day, I’m prone to feeling lightheaded. I would say I’m overall better than I was a week ago. Thoughts have quietened.

Aww your dog 💖. Pets make a huge difference and have their own minds. We went for a walk the other day, there was this lil kitty who got extra friendly. She started rolling around and was very talkative. She was a weird one though, she also sniffed some poop on the pavement

Sounds a really busy day @creative_writer - hope the appointments will have positive benefits/outcomes though.

I sometimes find that I don't realise that something small has triggered in me, and then lies a little dormant in my during the day, but then at the end when I'm tired and need to unwind - BAM! it's like I'm hit with a mood and thoughts. Sometimes I realise later what it was that might have been niggling away, but not always.

Aww cute and friendly cat! Lol cats and dogs sniff everything eh! I get 'the royal sniffing' when I get home if I have had contact with another animal whilst out.

@AlwaysMyself I don’t usually have psych and pdoc appointments in one day, but today I did. My pdoc wanted to check in with me sooner this time, probably to monitor risk and effects of my new meds. I didn’t even dive in deep, but I’ve been super irritable and can no longer ignore this somatic flashback. I am sometimes able to ignore them, until I can’t. I do still it was productive. She also thinks therapy needs to be changed up, and she has a colleague in mind. I would need to ask about the wait times.

Dogs and cats can be a weird bunch. They show very spectrum like behaviours and experience sensory overload. Maybe that’s why I feel like I have more in common with animals than humans.

I am glad the pdoc is taking a caring interest in your wellbeing @creative_writer 😊. Sadly not all are that way, so i am really glad yours is.

Fingers crossed her colleague can get you an appointment in not too long. I always appreciate when someone who knows me well (and how i relate) recommends someone - because it cuts out some of the risk of trying a person who may not be the right "feel" or rapport.

How do you feel about the idea of her recommended colleague?

I know the idea of a new psych can be uneasy.

Would they be happy to do abit of a "handover" explanation to reduce the need for you to go through it quite so painfully?

Re: Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

@AlwaysMyself I am lucky to have a pdoc who cares. I’ll see him again in 3-4 weeks time to check in on how I progress. He also agrees it might be worth trying out a new psych. We decided that I can monitor how I go and see if inpatient is needed later on. I wouldn’t be able to do inpatient for a good few months because I would need to dedicate time for that.

I asked her for recommendation because it’s not always easy to find someone yourself. The choice overload can feel overwhelming and it’s hard to know who to pick. It is a relief, but I’m still anxious about changing. Changing isn’t easy, but sometimes change is what you need to heal.

I think a handover might help. Might also write some stuff out regarding traumas, it’s hard to speak about it. It’s easier to write. I just hope the new approach will work out for me.
