Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

I have multiple mental illnesses including Bipolar 2, cptsd, OCD, social anxiety. I’m also neurodivergent, ADHD and ASD. I already have tons of labels and a lot going on. I’m getting assessed for an ED on Monday during my psych appointment, I reckon I meet criteria so I am anticipating another diagnosis. I know it explains my how I’ve been feeling but it’s another label, I hate feeling so broken and feeling like I’m complicated. I know my disordered eating habits are adversely affecting my mental and physical health, I’ve just been in denial for so long and would also get defensive when people commented on my eating habits or asked about them.

I personally don't believe anyone can be beyond repair as long as they live @creative_writer . This is like the term 'treatment resistant'. It really irks me because it takes away hope.

Please do not think you are beyond hope. There IS hope.

@AuntGlow I think you only realise with age what you look for not only in romantic relationships but friendships. I think when you’re younger, especially as an adolescent you don’t really know what you want and sometimes you’re more desperate to make and keep friends (who you’ve drifted apart from).

I’m feeling unsure whether I should put my hope in the new med. It sounds strange, but I don’t want to be disappointed, but then it could help. What if it could lift me out of this deep depression and help with the urges (I’m safe).

I’m going to take a walk to clear out my head. Things often get worse at this time.

@tyme I have private health. There is a two month wait to get it to cover psychiatric admissions. I reckon it’ll be at a few months before the timing is viable.

I hate treatment resistant term too. I feel like something can work and then stop being as effective. Sometimes you need a different therapy modality. That is why I was considering revisiting EMDR. My psychiatrist acknowledges I have complex presentations. Bipolar is hard enough on its own but also having complex trauma adds a layer. Then I have additional diagnoses like ED, I have a ton of anxiety and OCD thoughts. Add ND in the mix adds another layer. So much going on at once.

Have you been looking into any clinics? Sometimes, by the time you wait the wait period for insurance, time is up and you havent even got a place. @Captain24 would know more about it.

Also, please note this is not to pressure you into going. Only if you feel it's right for you.

Also, some clinics have outpatients so they go 1-2 times a week for their day programs. Some seem really good, but I never qualified to be accepted.

There is hope @creative_writer

@tyme I think my psychiatrist is associated with a private clinic where they do day programs and inpatient stays. I was guessing if I was going to be referred, it’ll most likely be that clinic. He did also mention the option of day programs.

I am aware there will likely be a wait. It might also not be viable for me to do inpatient for a while.

I talk to him again next week. He wanted to check in sooner because things had been rough. He probably wants to monitor risk as well. I’ve been able to not SH so far today. I will see how much longer I can go. I’ve been able to resist for more than 24 hours and I’m still trying. I’m holding onto life right now, still trying to be hopeful when it feels so bleak. Holding onto hope can feel painful, but I feel like it’s what I need to do right now. There must be a reason for my existence and there must be a purpose to this pain. I know this may sound heavy, but it’s how I feel. Now I’m tearing up

I don’t really have the capacity to read back I’m sorry @tyme @creative_writer

I did see an outing waiting time for hospital? Why is there a waiting period for your health insurance? I just rang mine and the approved the place I was going too and just did it. The second time I didn’t even notify them the hospital did.

Just trying to understand? To possibly try and help

That's okay @Captain24 . I know you've just come back from work. I was just having a chat with @creative_writer about a possible private clinic admission.

@creative_writer , don't be so hard on yourself. We all have our own journeys

Re: Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

@Captain no need to apologise. It’s all good. I hope you are doing okay 💖.

My current private health insurance cover doesn’t include psychiatric inpatient stays. I would have to increase my cover for an admission and there is a 2 month wait till that can be increased. I have no idea what the waitlist for private admission would be, it might be longer than two months. My psychiatrist probably would know. Even if I went to an admission, I will probably need to consider a suitable time. I would also have to tell my parents and reassure them so they don’t get super anxious and worried. I’m still living with them, I can’t afford living on my own right now

@tyme it’s been a hectic two months. I’ll take my new medication today, and hope it’ll make some difference. I know they say it takes time to see changes, but at this point what do I have to lose. I see my psych and psychiatrist next week. I can talk to them more about inpatient and EMDR then

Oh ok.. @tyme. The best thing I did was go into hospital, a private one. @creative_writer. I was petrified and cried all the way there, I could speak when they were checking me in, when the were showing me around and then when I went to dinner. The other patients all looked out for me. Helped me settle in. All the groups were really helpful and I thought I would sit in a corner and not speak but I participated really well. Everyone there, the facilitators, the doctors, the nurses and even the cleaners and cooks are all amazing and supportive. If I had the leave from work and a babysitter I would be in there now. It was really helpful and beneficial.

Oh, so you don't have inpatient covered @creative_writer

I have a feeling they can waive the waiting period depending on the company

All the best with whatever you decide though. I know it's not easy, and it can be very anxiety provoking, especially when ND also comes into the mix
