Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

I have multiple mental illnesses including Bipolar 2, cptsd, OCD, social anxiety. I’m also neurodivergent, ADHD and ASD. I already have tons of labels and a lot going on. I’m getting assessed for an ED on Monday during my psych appointment, I reckon I meet criteria so I am anticipating another diagnosis. I know it explains my how I’ve been feeling but it’s another label, I hate feeling so broken and feeling like I’m complicated. I know my disordered eating habits are adversely affecting my mental and physical health, I’ve just been in denial for so long and would also get defensive when people commented on my eating habits or asked about them.

@AlwaysMyselfI hope you are doing better today 💗🫂. Sorry to hear it’s been rough.

I told my pdoc about the SH and SI. He showed concern, I’m safe rn. My pdoc prescribed me a new med and wants me to consider inpatient. I’ll see him again next week

Have health anxiety over the roof, I know it’s nothing and my brain overreacting. I can’t say much on here.

Health anxiety isn’t something I want to be dealing with with everything that has been happening.

Maybe I’m self sabatoging tonight, I don’t know if listening to dark music helps or hurts. Though it is the sort of music I can share on the forums due to heavy themes and perhaps not being recovery oriented.

I’m safe. Though I’m disappointed in myself. Maybe I need to give it time, maybe the new meds will work. Maybe a different approach to therapy might work. It’s just hard having patience.

I have dark thoughts but I’m safe

I’m okay, just panicking. Too much in my brain

Thanks for letting us know you're okay @creative_writer - what might we do to support you this evening hun? Is it helpful to get the thoughts out? Would you like some suggestions for soothing strategies?

Sending hugs (づ ᴗ _ᴗ)づ♡

@Jynx I need to breathe, I’m not breathing right. I’m getting too focused on my breath and thinking something isn’t right physically. I feel sort of weird, maybe after effects of being sick. You know the throat tickle

@creative_writer perhaps you're too focused on 'getting your breathing right' as opposed to focusing on the effects in the body of slowing the breath? Totally understandable that you're worrying about these sensations in your body when you've been so unwell lately.

Some ideas -

  • You could re-focus on a task instead, try to do something very mindfully
  • Switch up your environment - go to a different room, change lighting or add/change music, spend some time just lying on the floor, take a few moments outside to breathe in some fresh air
  • Focus on prayer, poetry, or find a comforting tv show/movie to put on
  • Call your support line of choice and talk through the feelings
  • Shower, eat, cup of tea, gentle stretches, or some vigorous movement to dispel some energy
  • Hit the hay

You got this hun, and we got you 💜

@AuntGlow everyone has different expectations, best to get that communicated early. For me personality plays a huge role, I am drawn to emotionally intelligent people.

I would like to work as a mental health clinician. I know it’s going to be a process to get there. I need to grow as a person and professionally.

I could try saying kind words to myself. I think shame requires a lot of work, and often repetition.

I’ll check in with my psych the week after. I’ll see what my psychiatrist has to say on Tuesday. I’ll also try to think about what I need in therapy. I could maybe raise the option of considering a EMDR therapist in my psychiatrist appointment. It’s been hard to talk about my ED in therapy lately because I have a lot going on. I know I also need to work on my body image

I love this! I think emotional intelligence is such a huge conduit for attraction. Knowing you connect with someone in that way is really important. @creative_writer

I think you can absolutely get there. 🥰

Yes, that's a great idea! My shame brain can be quite loud too, and I have found that slowly rewiring the opposite (compassion) can be done through those small, intentional, daily steps. What is one kind thing you could say about yourself today?

Also, how did your psychiatrist appointment go? Did you dicuss EMDR at all?

Do you ever reach out to the Butterfly Foundation for support? 🫶

@Jynx maybe I was too focused on breathing right. I ended up going to sleep. I had a heavy day yesterday with my psychiatrist appointment where I had to open up how hard it’s been for me. I’m going to try to get my new medication today. I don’t know if it’s going to help. My pdoc is cautious about adjusting my meds too significantly outpatient. He also agreed with my psych that inpatient might help, inpatient means more close monitoring if meds are to be adjusted. There will be a two month wait until the private health insurance cover increases and i would have to consider a suitable time if I did decide to go ahead with it.

@AuntGlow I am naturally drawn to caring and empathetic people. I am drawn to those who aren’t just comfortable with sitting with me during the good times but also the rough.

I once had a therapist say to me that he was proud of me because I did what I had to in order to survive during the SA. I found it super validating. I couldn’t have stopped it, even if my brain tries to convince me otherwise. I know it wasn’t my fault.

My pdoc prescribed me another medication to try. He expressed concern, but I know that’s expected with the intense chronic SH and SI urges (I’m safe). Still thinking about inpatient. I didn’t get around to discussing EMDR, I think I’ll do that with my psych appointment next week.

I’ve reached out to Butterfly Foundation before, it can help.

You know who your people are, that's amazing. This tells me that when you do meet someone you might like to connect more closely with, you will know if they are right for you or not. @creative_writer 💛

That is really validating and I am so glad you had someone support you and reassure you in this way. You are right, it absolutely wasn't your fault. And you deserve so much love and compassion.

Okay, how are you feeling about this new medication?

And I can see how inpatient care would be very helpful.

Please keep me updated, I am here to listen - you're never alone. 🥰

Hey @creative_writer , how are you? I've been reading that things have been so hard. Do yo uhave private health insurance that allows for a private hospital admission? I"m mindful you were speaking about it a few days ago.
