Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

I have multiple mental illnesses including Bipolar 2, cptsd, OCD, social anxiety. I’m also neurodivergent, ADHD and ASD. I already have tons of labels and a lot going on. I’m getting assessed for an ED on Monday during my psych appointment, I reckon I meet criteria so I am anticipating another diagnosis. I know it explains my how I’ve been feeling but it’s another label, I hate feeling so broken and feeling like I’m complicated. I know my disordered eating habits are adversely affecting my mental and physical health, I’ve just been in denial for so long and would also get defensive when people commented on my eating habits or asked about them.

Yes! I left on the 11th Dec and returned only this week. @creative_writer So yes, it looks like our time away overlapped.

Yeah, changes throw me outta whack big time. Each day, I need my time ordered by the minute or I get lost. I waste a lot of time if I don't follow a strict routine.

I think I work best with goal setting. So having a routine is like kicking goals with each task I complete.

For example, yesterday, I had 6 things to do. I pulled the kids out with me and zoomed around like a mad person going to woollies, library, other shops, etc. I then came home and made some prawn and pork wontons. The kids were running behind me!

But yes, that's how I function best.

What works best for you?

@tyme routines help me too, but lately they’ve been feeling impossible to do. I’ve just had a lot going on with being sick and my mental health. I do schedule some things in that are non negotiable like meal prep, self care and exercise. I do feel like I need to fill up my days a bit more, but maybe I need to take it slowly. Maybe instead of scheduling ten additional tasks, one might suffice. I can go into paralysis and end up feeling worse than I did at the start. I’m also mindful of my limited spoons right now. Maybe I can add more things once I have more spoons. I am also looking at studying, that might help set a routine too.

It sounds like the kiddos are very active and keep you so busy. They do keep you at your feet.

@creative_writer I really hear you hun. It can be hard to see that there's a purpose when we're so stuck. But I do love how much this relationship with your spirituality is helping you to find some meaning and hope, even if it does feel thin right now. "Be patient and tough; someday this pain will be useful to you." Quote from a Roman poet named Ovid that I really like.

Aye true, no harm in being on the waitlist!! That separation anxiety can be rough, too. It's hard, but it's also not your responsibility to make her feel okay about you living your own life and getting your needs met in accordance with your own values. Have you spoken to your supports about how you might be able to approach things if you decide to go for the inpatient option?

Aww shy kitty! Makes it even more special when you get a glimpse hehe 💜

@Jynx I still do want to become a therapist. I feel like I’m leaning more towards therapeutic work instead of more practical based work (i.e. case management). I think on some level you do need to refer client to other services, but it’s the therapeutic side that I feel like I thrive in. I know I need to be more emotionally well and I know lived experience can make a difference. I just hope I can heal. Trauma triggers also feel raw right now. I think the obsessive thoughts become worse when I’m not doing well emotionally. CPTSD and OCD thoughts aren’t always rational, but it’s hard to convince myself otherwise.

It’s hard with her separation anxiety. I’m okay with separation and but she really struggles with separation from her kids. I’ve become super secretive and I have created distance so I don’t feel suffocated. I think it’s definitely something I’ll need to explore with my supports if I decide inpatient.

She’s so cute and I think she will be a pretty cat when she grows up 💖. I saw kitties when I was away. There was a pet store close to one of the hotels we were staying in. There were three small kitties, they were all cute and small. They were energetic. I think they had to separate them so they wouldn’t fight

I’ve been thinking, the idea of an inpatient stay is making me anxious. It’s not just dealing with my mum, unfamiliar environments can make me anxious. I know I can leave any time. I feel stupid for feeling anxious, but I can’t help it. I know not everyone has unfortunate experience in psych wards and many people heal. I’ve heard stories of people who have had traumatic experiences. I’m still a trauma survivor and I don’t want anything to happen to me to make me more traumatised. My trauma already broke me enough. Maybe it’s overblown in my brain, but I think that’s the core of it. Maybe it’ll be different in a private ward, I don’t really know. I struggle to trust people and feel safe

I feel guilty that I’m not progressing in therapy right now. I don’t have it in me to go beyond survival. My psych thinks meds need to be reviewed at this point in time because my energy reserves are running low. Is it normal to not feel like you’re progressing? It feels like a shortcoming on my part. I’ve been stuck for two months. I don’t know how to progress further, I wish I knew. I’m just surviving right now. My psych wants me to follow my safety plan and reach out to crisis lines when needed. I’m able to keep safe for now, though I’m running out of energy. Reaching out for support can help temporary, but I think you need ongoing supports for more lasting results

@creative_writer Saw your post in other thread with the lovely @Shaz51 that you're not doing great.

Letting you know I have popped my head over here and am prioritising reading through what's happening for you at the moment (before my other notifications) --- because I want to, because I care.

Bear with me whilst I read. 😊 Sending early hugs and support though!

@AlwaysMyself @Shaz51 it’s been rough, I’m looking for answers but it is hard finding those answers. It’s clear change needs to happen, but it is hard knowing what that change needs to be
