Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

I have multiple mental illnesses including Bipolar 2, cptsd, OCD, social anxiety. I’m also neurodivergent, ADHD and ASD. I already have tons of labels and a lot going on. I’m getting assessed for an ED on Monday during my psych appointment, I reckon I meet criteria so I am anticipating another diagnosis. I know it explains my how I’ve been feeling but it’s another label, I hate feeling so broken and feeling like I’m complicated. I know my disordered eating habits are adversely affecting my mental and physical health, I’ve just been in denial for so long and would also get defensive when people commented on my eating habits or asked about them.

@creative_writer hehe you get like a 'sixth sense' for it ay (I know there's more than 5 senses lol I just don't know another saying 🤣) - like I can usually tell if someone is neurodivergent after one conversation 😋

Totally! I also kinda say to myself that I could refuse to believe anything that can't be proven but... life just seems more fun when I choose to believe in magic ✨

@Jynx I think ND is undiagnosed in my family. My dad was talking about a relative who used to drink caffeine before bed to go to sleep because it calmed him down. I reckon my mum uses caffeine to manage her anxiety, migraines and help her concentrate. It’s easy to pick up ND traits 😂. I was convinced one of my task supervisors from my first placement was ND, she was an interesting character.

Science has its place, but there is so much it does not take into consideration. Spirituality means different things for different people, it makes a huge difference to someone’s life. Living life without purpose and meaning is rough

Ahaha @creative_writer funny the things you start to notice hey.

I know right?! I think it's such an important thing to explore with people, but it is so oft neglected within the mental health field.

@Jynx learning about ND does make it easier to pinpoint signs in others.

Spirituality is often neglected. I feel like Western culture often brushes it to the side. Spirituality can improve resilience by providing a sense of purpose and hope. I feel like I would’ve been long gone without it

@creative_writer yeah totally neglected! Or belittled, or dismissed, or made out to be some sign of 'madness' or something. And I think it's a tragedy to be honest, because like you say, there's so much meaning and hope that can be gained, not to mention community, connection, and purpose.

@Jynx completely agree. Loss of connection to spirituality can be so detrimental. We live in busy world where people are not encouraged to think but are encouraged to be on the go.

Have my psych appointment tomorrow, have lots to fill up on

@Jynx my psych is more of an exposure therapist. She does also think talking at this point in time about details may not be the best idea. She reckons it will be good if I focus on my goals but also learn to sit and manage emotions when the discomfort happens.

That's awesome to hear @creative_writer - sounds like it's working out well so far with this therapist!

How are ya?

@Jynx I’ve been reflecting, there might be some stuff I might need to tell. I felt suicidal last night, maybe I took my meds too late, but I couldn’t stand the body flashback. I’m doing better, but the discomfort is still sticking. It’s a daily struggle.

How has your day been?

That's rough @creative_writer going a little better today?

My day has been chill, mainly procrastinating on my meal prep lol.
