Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)

Mixed feelings-might be getting another diagnosis (ED)
I have multiple mental illnesses including Bipolar 2, cptsd, OCD, social anxiety. I’m also neurodivergent, ADHD and ASD. I already have tons of labels and a lot going on. I’m getting assessed for an ED on Monday during my psych appointment, I reckon I meet criteria so I am anticipating another diagnosis. I know it explains my how I’ve been feeling but it’s another label, I hate feeling so broken and feeling like I’m complicated. I know my disordered eating habits are adversely affecting my mental and physical health, I’ve just been in denial for so long and would also get defensive when people commented on my eating habits or asked about them.

@creative_writer sounds like you're well-prepared for the sensory experience of the evening! Yeah going out to restaurants when you got gut stuff to manage can be really hard. My dad has a garlic/onion allergy and it was always a gamble as to whether restaurants would actually cater to him. Garlic and onion are in everything.
Hope it ends up being a lovely evening 😊

@Jynx I’m going over to someone’s house, but I don’t know them well. I’ll stick with rice, haven’t been eating bread for a while. Will also try to eat less spicy food. I will only have a small meal, not used to bigger meals.
I’m pretty exhausted, not sure how social I can be.

Hopefully someone mentions one of your special interests @creative_writer haha I always find my ability to be social is easier when I'm rambling about stuff I'm interested in 😁

@Jynx not so far, I’ve had a bit to eat, not going to push myself too much with a sensitive gut. Hopefully get no issues tomorrow.
Maybe I’m not a social butterfly, I find small talk boring.

@creative_writer that's totally valid to my mind. I hate small talk too - typically I end up responding with something strange or unhinged within a minute or two (usually without realising how strange it is lol) which tends to either rapidly end the convo (yay!) or they are also a bit weird and happy to talk about unhinged things with me (also yay!) - so that tends to work for me 😋
Some people have big social networks with many friend groups. Some people have 1-2 very close friends and that's all. Either way is totally valid 😉

@Jynx don’t really feel I have much value to add. I’m just feeling sort of disconnected, it is why I avoid socialising a lot of the time. Maybe I’m disassociating like I have been doing much of the time. Hard to find people I connect with, but they do exist. No reward kind of makes you unmotivated. Im over forcing it, I’m totally okay with friendships resolving. I rather just have people I connect with

@creative_writer yeah no point forcing it hey. Connection doesn't have to mean traditional friendships either. There are many ways we can find connection and solidarity - to community, to a cause, to art or music, for example.
I gotta head off hun - I hope you have a chill evening 💜

@Jynx connection is complex, I don’t believe you have to unmask completely to connect, you can still connect to a certain degree. Though unmasking does make it easier to connect. It’s easier to connect with some people more than others, sometimes it is hard to pinpoint why. I came back later and slept later than usual, but I got to sleep in. Throat feels throaty, hopefully the dietician can help with improving immune system. I think a lot of us with MH struggles have gut issues at the core, it’s our second brain. I am also not sure if my meds are also making me feel more lightheaded. It’s tricky, I need it to control my bipolar.
I hope the sleep fairies paid you a visit last night 💖. I’m not even sure why I keep talking about fairies, lol. The other day I was talking about fairies, my mum was asking whether I had one of those nights where I saw a ghost/spirit. It has happened multiple times when I was half asleep. It freaks people out, it could be me just being half asleep, but culturally the existence of spirits is also widely accepted.

@creative_writer yep totally, I think a certain degree of masking is kinda...inevitable? Especially as we slowly 'warm up' to people. And all sorts of factors influence it too hey, from the conversation topic, to the context of the meeting, to the emotional and psychological states of the people meeting.
Yeah the gut issues are like sooo common hey. Pretty sure most people I know with a trauma history have gut troubles. Can be hard to look after second brain sometimes- hope the dietician can shed some light 😊
Umm prolly cos fairies are awesome!! Hehe love that. And yeah I am of the opinion that we have a narrow field of sensory perception (e.g. how small a section of the electromagnetic spectrum we can actually perceive) and that there's still sooooo much we don't understand so like.... why not spirits? Why not fairies? 😍

@Jynx I was able to catch up with someone I knew later into the event, that kind of lifted things up later into the event. Something about her communication style feels a bit neurodivergent. Definitely picked up RSD the other day, I’m not exactly a fast texter. Sometimes I have had moments I thought I replied to only realise I didn’t.
Trauma can affect the gut. Then gut issues can influence development of ptsd and other mental illnesses. It’s complicated.
I do believe spirits exist in another dimension. I do believe some of my experiences may have been actual spirits, but some were probably also sleep related hallucinations. I feel like there is a particular time in the wee hours of the morning where sightings are most common. I feel like people with sensory sensitivities are more likely to report paranormal activity. Some places in Melbourne do actually feel haunted
