Talking through trauma and PTSD

Therapy types

Therapy types

Seeking help, thoughts, info from life experiences etc

currently doing schema therapy for CPTSD and feeling have hit a wall.

been reading little bits about ACT therapy and wondering if could be worth talking with psychologist about next session in couple days time.

wondering what type of therapy might help me coming to terms with, and deal with, ongoing grief from loss of family members 40+ yrs ago.

Psychologist has mentioned EMDR various times. Not something I feel I can do

Re: Therapy types

I think you had a gem of wisdom in there @PeppyPatti 😊

since then I’m very aware of ‘ labels, borderline is not bad

narcissism is not bad

I’m head injured and I’m not bad I just say crazy things at the wrong time.

in a good way ….

@Appleblossom excellent to hear your current therapist is good. 😊

I had very regular session for 10 years, and then a 10 year break (because there became a point where there was nothing more left to try to help me, and then it became too expensive for just maintenance so I self-managed). And then things got worse again over the past few years so I started seeing someone again this year - which has been good to have someone I can talk to honestly and openly, even if there are no "answers" or new counselling things to try. It is nice to have a supportive person to be able to trust with things you can't say elsewhere - and that I can say without having to worry about how I word it haha.

whilst I boarded the plane on Qantas in Perth, sitting in the middle, I was aware of our air hostesses, being very kind ( why) to everyone and giving whatever if you asked for it and I thought.

Haha @PeppyPatti that is so good! I love that ypu thought of the mods/support here as being like helpful flight attendants giving passengers what they ask for. 😊🥰

I hope your flight went well. Are you traveling for a holiday?

I enjoy @AuntGlow approach of asking questions, sometimes has led to me doing more thinking/research which has been good.

@AlwaysMyself guy I know that lives in same village as me has ABI. Impacts I’m aware of that his head injury has caused are inability to handle money, unable to learn anything new, no longer able to read and write, reduction in comprehension. Also struggles with using appropriate wording in mixed company.

Im hoping new psychologist will be easy to talk with, that I feel comfortable with plus I feel I can trust her.
appointment couple days ago with psychologist I’ve been seeing for last few years left me feeling unheard plus that I can’t do anything right. Say ‘that is good’ followed by ‘but’ and proceeding to tell me everything she felt I had done wrong. So thankful won’t be seeing her again
