Talking through trauma and PTSD

Therapy types

Therapy types

Seeking help, thoughts, info from life experiences etc

currently doing schema therapy for CPTSD and feeling have hit a wall.

been reading little bits about ACT therapy and wondering if could be worth talking with psychologist about next session in couple days time.

wondering what type of therapy might help me coming to terms with, and deal with, ongoing grief from loss of family members 40+ yrs ago.

Psychologist has mentioned EMDR various times. Not something I feel I can do

Re: Therapy types

@AlwaysMyself yeah give it a go I reckon! Hehe

I love how creative you are to invent signs for various monsters!! Got one for a 'Beholder' yet? Haha they are SCARY!

For minis, I absolutely love this website called Hero Forge - even if I never purchase the STL files for 3d printing, I still love it to help me visualise my characters and stuff. They will also print the minis for you, but it's like $30-40 instead of like $7-10 for just the file.

Re: Therapy types

@Jynx you know when you put cheezles on your 5 fingers and wiggle them in front? I don't know what the rest of my group would use for a sign for a "beholder", but I reckon that would be my visual suggestion. 🤣. But that would also go for other tentacle-head things like a spectator.

I've seen Hero Forge before, and love their ability to create models of your characters - but I recall they are designed for highly-detailed printers like resin and I think mine would struggle. If the STL file was free, i'd have a go - wouldn't cost much. But yeah USD$8 isn't too cheap since I don't have a backup way to still print the file if mine isn't capable. I didn't realise they did animals though (just saw now on their site) as well as a Pro version that allows you to create your own model customised by adding multiple items into one (their example being a bird perched on a shoulder) - that's a good idea.

I feel like I have made this thread very off-topic now. Oops. Sorry all!

Role Play is therapy? You can imagine scenarios and safely act them out...

Re: Therapy types

I was just going to mention that myself but what was I going to say ?

Re: Therapy types

@PeppyPatti 🤣🤣 I'll share the cheezles with you 😋. Pretty sure eating tasty things is good therapy for the taste buds, right? 😉

What is your favourite treat food/drink @PeppyPatti ? 😊

I think mine is ice cream (sometimes I make it myself)

Re: Therapy types

@PeppyPatti hahaha woops... I mean we can probably start a D&D thread or something @AlwaysMyself if you're up for it! 😋

(promise I won't stay on the topic of D&D in this space too long if it is bothersome to people who want to focus on the title topic... it's just what happens when someone activates my special interest brain 😂)

Sorry @AlwaysMyself they're a little blurry, but my friend (with the filament 3D printer) printed off one of the STLs from HeroForge - here's how it looks!

My darling @AlwaysMyself

I am ashamed to say we hired a cleaner to give us a boost today.

it’s incredible to come home to a reasonably clean home. I cannot believe how much iv accumulated in past 5 years.

we have two units. Public housing keep on yelling is its ok to have two units. The units a very small but

WOW

they are safe

[Moderator Edit]

however …..

it feels like Australia is going to hit some hot weather. And it’s our turn in the next few days

But it’s not above 40

Re: Therapy types

@PeppyPatti there is absolutely no shame in hiring someone to help! Actually, i pay someone to come every week for about 1-2 hours to help with my cleaning because i can't do it myself.

I am not looking forward to the hot weather. But i am very grateful for air conditioning. Only meant to get to abit over 20 today where i am, with possible thunderstorms apparently! Will wait and see if that happens...

I have a busy day on fridays - always have 2x appointments plus the dog walker comes. Somehow even being home to hand over the dogs and receive them back from their walk feels stressful and demanding 😰. But i know it is illogical and really isnt stressful unless the walker is very late. Need to go to the shops today also to buy some fresh dog meat loaf... can i go back to bed yet?? 😅😴

Re: Therapy types

I've just come back from overseas @PeppyPatti . When I was overseas, I stayed in many places where they have a maid and a cook. It was the BEST thing out!

If you can get help, do it!
