Talking through trauma and PTSD

Therapy types

Therapy types

Seeking help, thoughts, info from life experiences etc

currently doing schema therapy for CPTSD and feeling have hit a wall.

been reading little bits about ACT therapy and wondering if could be worth talking with psychologist about next session in couple days time.

wondering what type of therapy might help me coming to terms with, and deal with, ongoing grief from loss of family members 40+ yrs ago.

Psychologist has mentioned EMDR various times. Not something I feel I can do

Not a good day today @AuntGlow

I’ll be ok, might take some time though

Re: Therapy types

I like your neighbour's perspective @Flutterbug9 😊. And yeah - they are a service provider, so absolutely. Would you keep buying coffee from a barista that kept burning it? (unless for some reason you loved burnt coffee of course... or I guess maybe some people would if they fancied the person and wanted an excuse to see them - but then they should switch to buying a hot chocolate or a muffin instead!)

*hugs @Flutterbug9 for your not-a-good-day*

I am glad you had a flashback and nightmare free evening @Flutterbug9! That's huge.

Tears are more than allowed, it sounds like you are holding a lot right now... do you have time for a balance of rest and gentle activity?

Also, how is therapy going? 💛

Hi @AuntGlow

using part of something a neighbour has recently said, my psychologist failed to deliver and has been sacked.

Final appointment with therapist I’ve been seeing was end of last week during which her words / tone triggered me (again).. that night the flashback started. Full blown flashbacks of event from teen years.

Couple weeks time I have initial appointment with new psychologist, lady I requested to be transferred to

song The Weight I hide by Grim ‘n Soul hits close to home for me

doing chores then have a break for awhile (instructions from pain management dr).

hospital all next week as of Monday. Trying to think positive thoughts about my cats at cattery, it’s a struggle though

Re: Therapy types

Very good advice from the pain management doctor @Flutterbug9 - I too have to pace myself for both pain and fatigue reasons. Best not to overdo it.

Oh, I just realised we can be hospital buddies on Tuesday! I'm only in for a day-procedure, but it will be my first time being an admitted patient.

I hope your hospital stay goes well, I hope the cats settle into the cattery well (maybe they will get extra treats and not want to come home?? Joking -- of course they will want to come back home with you after 🙂 You are their slave because they are cats and you are human! lol.). I wonder if the cattery staff can send you a photo each day of your cats to show you that they are OK and getting some pats each day from the staff? (not sure if that would help? I know it helps me if I am worried about my dogs' happiness when I'm leaving them somewhere).
