Our Dream Trip

Our Dream Trip

@Glisten @AlwaysMyself

I created this thread so we can talk about our dream trip, but if you'd prefer just to chat on already established threads that's cool too.

Father gave me this piece of advice when I was about 15 so I'm not sure that Steve Tyler was the first to say it 😋

@ENKELI I've never done Winter in Canada, but have done Japan. I think Canada in Winter would be cool.

Re: Our Dream Trip

@Snowiethat photo is gorgeous.

I went to Canada in June/July which of course is their summer but places like Banff were freezing and snowy. We did a bus trip along the Colombia Ice Fields and the wind chill factor made it around -6 Celsius which is by far the coldest I've ever experienced. And that was summer!

In Whistler they actually shipped in snow as there wasn't enough. It wasn't as cold there, mind you my travel mate and I were both pretty hungover after a big night out so I don't think we were feeling anything at that point. We made it up the mountain

Snow looks all romantic and lovely but it's not, it's cold and wet. It's good to look at from the inside!

Absolutely! I believe the place im going later in the year offers it nearby (or at least has links to the people who offer it, and can help book it).

Sounds like @Glisten requirements for Bali will be possible on our dream trip round the world? 😉

Wow @Bow ! That's fantastic! I love your goal of visiting all the Disneylands around the world!! 😁

I didnt realise the original one was in California. I had just assumed it was Orlando, because its the one I hear the most of lol.

I feel like I've read about a cruise line that has or did a Disney themed cruise?? As in it was a normal itinerary, but they had extra things on like staff dressed in Disney character costumes... I feel that would blend your dream for a cruise along with the Disney love theme! 😋😁

I went to Legoland in Malaysia (good value compared to other theme parks I must say! But off season some things weren't open or were broken/maintenance lol).

I've been to a Lego Discovery in Berlin, and been to a few Lego stores around Australia and other countries (if I see one, I always duck in to look around!)

OMG @Shaz51 are they cassowary chick's???? 😍🤩 ive only ever seen cassowary at the zoo.

I've seen emu's wild (not nearly as scary/dangerous), and once an Emu thought it was stalking me and I thought it was about to charge at me 😆 so I let it know I'd seen it (i was watching it with my camera) and thankfully it charged past me not at me! That was in Flinders Ranges SA.

@Former-Member @Shaz51 lovely to hear you have strong connections to your ancestory and to visit places of them. 😊 i know my ancestors came over from England and Scotland, but not sure where exactly. But they did have land in early Australia in both VIC and TAS. I visited the place in TAS where one branch of the family lived. But haven't visited the places in VIC myself.

Re: Our Dream Trip

Yep Disneyland in California is the first and original Disney park @AlwaysMyself The Orlando one is much bigger so is talked about more. I think it has 4 parks?

and yep Disney have many cruise lines and in the last couple of years they have actually been coming to Australia. They have all the perks of a cruise, plus all the Disney themed activities.

We loved legoland, but we did find there was a lot of attractions that were closed due to off season, which was disappointing. We actually found the same at Disneyland in Paris. Rides closed. But the same amount of people so the rides that were open had huge wait times. One was 240 minutes!

do you know you can get a Lego passport? And each Lego store has its own individual stamp, plus they have different stamps every month.

Re: Our Dream Trip

Wow they are great family stories @ENKELI and @Shaz51 ! You both gave me a smile 🙂

I cannot imagine how it would have been to be shipwrecked and 6 months until rescue!

And as for... how to claim land.. im glad that method has since changed 😅. What a King!

Very cool ancestory too @avant-garde your

Royal highness! 😊😉 I like Scandinavia 😊.

@ENKELI and oops I forgot was also talking about Vegas gambling... was it @Snowie ?

I dont gamble either. Never used a pokie machine, but if/when I visit Vegas I want to find one that still has the old style lever and just put the minimum amount through for 1 spin - as they said, just to do so in Vegas and in an old style cha-ching! Not a push button for me.

I have played blackjack on a cruise ship casino once. They give you $5 of chips to entice you to play and teach you (if you dont know how). So I happily played with $5 of chips for free - about 30-60 minutes I think it lasted?

@Bow Wow! I am amazed DL Paris had rides closed off season! I thought it was just because Malaysia isn't a big international tourism place

I would not wait so long for rides, but it amazes me that people do. I went to Universal Studios Japan (because I wanted to see Super Nintendo World of course!) and most of the adult rides were wait times over 2 hours also! 😮

Thankfully I am not into adult rides generally as I am too scared for roller-coaster haha. But we did have one of those express entry passes (to guarantee entry to SNW of course!) So I felt I had to use the express entry ride passes and it was about 30min queues. I liked the ones aimed at younger teens and children 🤣🤣 they weren't as scary! I have no shame about being scared on roller-coasters. I did the Hollywood ride there and yep dont need to do it again. Ever. 😅

I did not know there was a lego passport! This definitely sounds like something I need to look into. It might mean I also need to revisit places ive been haha.

@AlwaysMyself

I have a lot of verbal family history details that goes back 200+ years that I’ve not been able to prove or disprove. Land and business owner in Wales, land owner and link to Knights Templar in Ireland, link to Spanish Armada and Cornwall England.

One definite detail I’ve found is sheep farmers who were pioneer family in part of Victoria.
