Our Dream Trip

Our Dream Trip

@Glisten @AlwaysMyself

I created this thread so we can talk about our dream trip, but if you'd prefer just to chat on already established threads that's cool too.

Father gave me this piece of advice when I was about 15 so I'm not sure that Steve Tyler was the first to say it 😋

Re: Our Dream Trip

Hi all, I love this thread idea

My dream trip is Europe, especially Germany, France and Italy. I would love to see all the old buildings. Buildings older than our own country.

Hubby and I always said once our kids are adults we would go. Hoping within the next few years. Have already started doing research.

@ENKELI @AlwaysMyself @Snowie @Former-Member @avant-garde @tyme and all…

I travelled for a year, when I was 20-21, through Asia and Europe when I was younger, it was such a wonderful rich experience, I am so grateful for the memories and insights into peoples and the planet. I guess I was really well paid and could physically manage it then, though I only stayed in cushy hotels in Pakistan. I travelled to the countries where my ancestors lived, and lots more. Never regretted it. Learned so much, then returned to study when I returned home.

I travelled a bit through Australia, although there is plenty I have yet to see, but may not, and that is fine. I often say I don’t need to travel as the world is coming to me. Yet, funnily enough I had looked at some tours just before I logged on to the forum. Yep, they are expensive. I am pretty good at getting quality… on a shoestring…we’ll see… I am physically much more vulnerable, so my old style of travel is not viable. I have enjoyed travelling to music festivals recently.

Train lines in NZ I’d like to go on

- train trip through Arthur’s Pass

- Taieri Gorge Train

- Trans Alpine Railway

in UK, places that quickly come to mind

- Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of Shakespeare and the tutor cottages

- Stonehenge

- Giants Causeway

- city of Bath, the Roman baths

- Cavern Club Liverpool, its Beetles tribute

- Edinburgh, Edinburgh Cathedral and Grey Friars Bobby memorial

I Share your thoughts about going on a cruise and only having to unpack once. 😀

Re: Our Dream Trip

@ENKELI what a fun thread!!

i have toooo many places i'd love to visit. Europe is definitely high up there, specifically Spain, France, Switzerland, Scotland, Ireland and England. i want to visit the places where Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter were filmed!

i'd love to go during a time that they're having a cultural festival (like in Spain, there's a festival called La Tomatina where it's a massive food fight but with tomatoes! or even during Halloween time, they have days of activities!)

Japan's, Brazil and Egypt are also on my bucketlist! I've been to the south of NZ and Bali, but i want to visit both places again!

Re: Our Dream Trip

@Former-Member we are planning on winning lotto so it would be expenses paid and we'd hire out an entire moggie motel to look after our babies!

I have never had a desire to travel to the UK - much to my mums' disgust as that's where our relatives and descends are! - but this is our dream trip so I'm happy to go with you. We can drop you off with enough resources to travel for the few months you'd like to be there and then if you want you can catch up with the rest of us somewhere!

This is a dream trip so money is not a factor!

Re: Our Dream Trip

@Glisten would building saunas be a fun thing for you? If not you will not be building them! We will have won enough money to pay people to do that!

Re: Our Dream Trip

@avant-garde that is the most beautiful post I have ever read on Sane. You are definitely going to be sitting up in first class with us on our way to the UK.

Where are you located sweetie? I am making a list of where everyone resides because for me it gives me a greater connection to a person. You don't need to be specific, if you're only comfortable mentioning the state that's more than fine.

I hope you're having a good day, and may God bless you as much as you are a blessing 🫂

I don't even share my state, sorry, just need to be careful

Re: Our Dream Trip

@avant-garde you have no need to apologise sweetheart, safety and privacy is too important. I sometimes worry if I have given too much away but I am very lucky that my enemies are not on Sane. In your case though I understand you have to be careful 🫂

Re: Our Dream Trip

@rav3n welcome aboard! I want to go to Egypt too. My brother did a trip there which included a cruise along the Nile, he absolutely loved it.

For me Europe is a bit overrated as most of my family have been and they have spoken non stop about their trips (my mother particularly!) and I've seen photo after photo. But since we are winning lotto and travelling the world of course Europe has to be included.

I spent an hour in Auckland on my way to LA, but it doesn't count as I wasn't allowed to leave the airport!

I'd like to do North Qld as well as Tassie and the NT, I'd go back to South Australia again and have been to Victoria and NSW numerous times. I have seen more than most people of WA which I feel very fortunate about.
