Our Dream Trip

Our Dream Trip

@Glisten @AlwaysMyself

I created this thread so we can talk about our dream trip, but if you'd prefer just to chat on already established threads that's cool too.

Father gave me this piece of advice when I was about 15 so I'm not sure that Steve Tyler was the first to say it 😋

@AlwaysMyself @ENKELI @Shaz51 @tyme I have never lived life by halves.
If the locals don’t have a sauna, I’ll build them one 😄

You'd build them more than one @Glisten !

Re: Our Dream Trip

Oh! That's a thought @Former-Member . I've never been to the UK. I have cousins there. So that's got me thinking!

Re: Our Dream Trip

@tyme I was lucky to have had my dream trip. I spent 3 months in North America.

I'd love to go back to Singapore, been to Thailand (Koh Samui) and Indonesia. I've been to Bali 5 times and Jakarta once. Bali is so cheap from Perth, it was cheaper to go there than to travel in my own state.

I want to go to Africa and maybe to Ireland to see my cousin and his family. I was very blessed to have been able to travel as I was in a high paying job and had long service leave for my north America trip.

I've never been interested in Europe despite my mum telling me I'm missing out!

It certainly is more expensive now that's for sure. I have to get my passport renewed before I go anywhere, then there are the flights, accommodation, spending money...it goes on and on.

@Glisten and I are going to win lotto and then travel, @AlwaysMyself @Shaz51 are going to join us so you will have to come to Tymey 😘

Re: Our Dream Trip

If I could go anywhere

I would go to England

To see where my heart's from

To see my true heritage

to see West Yorkshire

And trace genealogy

Become a member at the library

Ride a train through the hills

I'd climb trees like Maria

And sing doe, ray, me, fah, so

See the vast green open spaces

Sing as loud as I can go

If I could go anywhere

I'd find the hidden gems

I'd help them be noticed

Review them on maps

I'd go to BBC studios

And meet doctor who

I'd check out local authors

And museums too

If I could go anywhere

I would stay in a cottage

Drink tea with biscuits

Make Yorkshire pudding

I'd help out with the homeless

Volunteer with orphanages

Share the love of Jesus

Be real and be me

Be who grandma taught me

Show the heart we share

Love without the limits

Maybe I'll see you there

@AuntGlow I like your idea of a tropical paradise too. Walking along the beach, drinking cocktails, having massages...divine!

Re: Our Dream Trip

@Glisten you crack me up 🤣.

@Former-Member I'll join you on both the UK and a train through the Rockies! Both on my to-do lists. 😊

UK strikes me for its quaint country towns, and of course the variety of accents I just need to absorb hearing them all!

@AuntGlow can i offer you a virtual trip to perhaps Bali or Fiji - but not the tourist trap cities, a nice quiet little retreat for meditation and yoga? 😊

I am going to see Komodo Dragons (hopefully!) in Indonesia, and to the jungle/national Park area in Borneo (Malaysia). I've picked 2 separate local-operator sustainable tours and planned all my flights and accommodation to stitch them together into one holiday. But geez they're not particularly easy places to get to 😅 - limited flights/operators. Hoping internal flights arent cancelled 🫣.

Re: Our Dream Trip

@AlwaysMyself @avant-garde @tyme @AuntGlow

I went on a pre paid packaged tour of UK to see the places of my ancestors. I got a glimpse and it gave me the yearning of wanting to go again

- to certain towns and areas

- to library in Ireland

- in hope of connecting with family

- to see more of the beautiful countryside

Ive been to NZ couple times. I’d like to go again, in hope of connecting with family, doing take the train rides. Would be by cruise next time

Re: Our Dream Trip

Any standout towns in the UK you highly recommend for unique aspects @Former-Member ?

Also interested to learn about train lines in NZ?

I think a cruise in NZ would be good too because of the island being accessible from the coast and the benefits of only unpacking once on a cruise. 😊
