Our Dream Trip

Our Dream Trip

@Glisten @AlwaysMyself

I created this thread so we can talk about our dream trip, but if you'd prefer just to chat on already established threads that's cool too.

Father gave me this piece of advice when I was about 15 so I'm not sure that Steve Tyler was the first to say it 😋

Re: Our Dream Trip

Such beautiful photos @AlwaysMyself Memories to last forever

I have been to Japan in winter, just not on Christmas Day. Will make it one day.

Have to settle for SA this weekend.

Re: Our Dream Trip

When I first created this thread it was only meant to be for a couple of members and myself to discuss our fantasy trip. I never imagined other members would jump aboard and join in, and that is such a wonderful thing!

I'm enjoying the stories of previous holidays, places to be visited and also the family histories of some members.

Thank you, each and every one of you who've taken the time to add your thoughts, I hope we all get our dreams fulfilled 💜😘💐🙏🤗

@Bow welcome aboard!

I love Canada and parts of the US. I was offered a job in San Diego when I was studying sound engineering at the WA Academy of Performing Arts but I was very young and not as adventurous as I was in my 30's onwards. I did get to spend a few weeks in San Diego later though and thought if only I could go back and take that job offer!

I hope you get to visit all the Disneylands 🤗💕

@Glisten there are a lot of beautiful places I could put a cabin on and be happy.

Have you been to Lesmurdie Falls and Bells Rapids? Both lovely spots.

I bought a framed photo of Tasmanian rainforest from Target when I first moved into my house and everytime I looked at the photo I could imagine living there, in a cosy little cabin away from suburbia.

Re: Our Dream Trip

@ENKELI coincidentally my Retiisi, my friend of 38 years keeps sending me real estate links of the houses she wants to buy.

All peacefully isolated, like your Tasmania 🙌🏼 house. I think it’s representative of what she has NOT got - peace.

She gets no respite. Carer for her 80 year old mother, her sisters abandoned her with that responsibility.

Highly skilled and disrespected in her workplace.

An estranged narcissist husband, swatting rent-free in her second property. At one stage with his girlfriend.

The divorce and settlement delayed by his lack of communication.

She has two beautiful, highly accomplished adult sons, that are an asset to the community. Two delightful grandchildren. But they don’t seem to bring her the peace that she craves.

I’m completely the opposite. My family and extended family brings me peace and a joy that I can’t express with words.

Every and any opportunity to enjoy a collective experience, create a memory and laugh without peeing myself.

And woodwork, always woodworking. I have to wear gloves now. Lately I’ve managed to sand off most of my fingernails.

Being valued by my two local Community Groups has done me a world of good. I was recently approached by a member asking me to house-sit. I gave them an option of house-sitting with a side order of appliance cleaning, furniture fixing and/or gardening 👩‍🌾

Last night, I was approached by a longtime friend who wants to hire me to Summer proof her mother’s yard.

@ENKELI Retiisi, I can honestly say that I would not have made it without your blisteringly fast and scrumptiously hilarious dry wit and imagination 💭

Because of you I knew that I wasn’t alone. You gave me hope and confidence to find my true self.

lift my burden and my spirits.

You gave me peace and strength.

😇

Re: Our Dream Trip

@Glisten my Tomaatti, what beautiful words and I am honoured, privileged that you think so highly of me. The times I've wanted to step away from the forums, you have been the main reason I didn't.

I don't share a brain with just anyone. They have to be a special breed and you my Tomaatti are that.

You make me laugh, you lift me when I am low and I look forward to your posts.

I am unsurprised at your demand for house sitting, as a former house haunter as one person called me, I would trust you with my cat. And I don't trust my own family with Mr MM. I would sue you for alienation of affection if he chose to live with you over me however. Let's be real about this, the MM is a bit of a tart when it comes to affection and Krack.

I want to build a compound and you would have your own purpose built abode. With a shed for your power tools, sound proofed so you could sand at 3am if you chose.

And of course there would be a sauna. That goes without saying.

I wonder why I want an isolated place? Maybe because as a general rule people disappoint me. I think my expectations are too high at times.

Re: Our Dream Trip

@ENKELI animals only want three things: great food, grooming and better food 😆

Maybe we should learn from that 😂🤣😆😳

Re: Our Dream Trip

Mine will substitute "grooming" for "pats" they says. All 3 of them. Not a fan of grooming lol. But they also dont like knots/matts or fur clumps lol. They vote for finger-pat-brushing.

@Glisten

The food however they are 100% supporting

Re: Our Dream Trip

@AlwaysMyself No one likes getting their fur or hair pulled.

Including horses. They only like the liquorice nubby brush, not made of real liquorice or the soft long bristle brush.

@ENKELI I forgot to say, if I ever house-sit for you. Be less worried about Mr MM and more concerned about coming home to a newly renovated and landscaped home.

It happens everytime I house-sit. Sometimes less. Sometimes more 😂

Re: Our Dream Trip

@Glisten the only concern I have about you house sitting is that if I need a house sitter it will be because I'm going on holiday and you need to be travelling with me.

I would pay you to renovate and repair my little house if I could.

I feel so defeated when I look at all that needs to be done, and angry at the person who is responsible for a lot of the damage that has been done. I am also pissed at the ex friend who took 8 years of my life and money that should have been put into my house.

Sigh, I want to find a magic lamp in the backyard, where a genie pops out and grants me three wishes. The second wish would be for us to have an all expenses paid holiday to somewhere snowy with a sauna connected to our accommodation!
