New chapter

New chapter

So I’ve come off one of my meds, it’s the first day I’ve been without it for years. I feel so much calmer, but a bit foggy, sleepy and migrainey. Not sure if that’s withdrawal or exhaustion built up from the really rough patch I’ve come out of. I can finally say I’m not in a mixed episode. I’m sort of unfazed by the body flashback I’m having. I’m just a little confused. Has the discomfort become easier to sit with (is it a sign of progress?) or am I disassociating?

How are the heart and mind feeling today? @creative_writer 💛

Re: New chapter

@Ru-bee @AuntGlow I had a shower, did some laundry, had lunch and watched some TV. Feeling a bit better, still pretty exhausted, but I think I will need to take today easy.

I'm having some intrusive thoughts popping up, though they are not as intense as last week. I think it's part of OCD, I want to talk about my OCD a bit more with my psych next session. It does get distressing and exhausting having them come in throughout the day

Re: New chapter

Is it possible to get rid of flashbacks, or is that not realistic? Is it more about reducing frequency and intensity?

Re: New chapter

@creative_writer I am glad you have found the time and space to take care of yourself; this is really good to read. 💛

Ah yes, I get this. It is exhausting... when do you notice your intrusive thoughts are less prominent?

Also, flashbacks - I am not sure they ever fully dissolve, but they do become less distressing over time, with healing, nurturing, and support. Has your psychologist talked about what to do in these moments to soothe yourself? ☺️

Re: New chapter

@AuntGlowthe intrusive thoughts are less prominent if I am able to do more activities during the day. It can be hard if I’m not feeling physically well like today, afternoon is also when the physical pain and rumination peak. I think I do have to acknowledge that I’m going through changes right now, and I don’t expect it to be easy. I am also very burnt out. I gave myself the space to rest, I do really need to start job applying again.

I think sometimes my mind gets fixated on getting rid of them, even though I know that may not be possible. I’m finding it really hard to rewire my brain into thinking that it is okay to sit with discomfort, I know it’s something that happens over time. I haven’t really explored different strategies on coping with flashbacks with my current psych. I have explored ways in the past. I think a combination of relaxation activities like breathing, grounding, music and prayer can help. Distractions can also be helpful

Hi @rav3n it’s nice to see you. I’m rather achy this evening, so not the best. Having sore spots around spine is hard. Physical pain can affect mental health and vice versa. Though I’m hoping once the physical stuff starts getting addressed, it’ll also help my mental health.

I hope you have a chill evening and I’ll catch you when you’re on again 💖

@rav3n I'll wait and see what the physio says about it. My mind has been super scattered, but I got a job application done. Can't help but feel worried, I've been trying for months and haven't had any luck yet.

I hope you are doing well today 💗

Re: New chapter

@creative_writer so proud of you for getting that job application done!!! the job market has been rough the last few years, i feel like waiting months to even years is becoming the new normal. a couple of my friends have also been job hunting for months! some of them have work experience and still took/are taking a while to find a job, so you're definitely not alone. i have faith that your efforts will pay off, might just take longer than expected.

i'm day is going smoothly so far, thank you 💜
