Daily goals, motivation and check in

Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm starting this discussion as a place where we can set our goals daily, help motivate each other to do them and then check in with how we went. It's a place to celebrate when we achieve them or just sit with each other if we didnt and are feeling down about it. Hopefully with encouragement and support from each other we'll tick lots of boxes for our daily goals and feel good about it. Please join in. 😊

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Hi all, hope today is treating you well.

Another easy day recovering from nasty cold/flu here. Almost deaf in one ear and cough is bad still when I lie down, chest rattling. But feel much better than I have the last few days. Modest goals for rest of today (rather than sitting here in my nightie):

  • make bed
  • dress
  • beach walk
  • shower
  • make juice
  • video editing
  • forum
  • maybe visit friend around the corner for dinner

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

I walked for three hours this morning, which was good .... need to balance out the days when it's only 20mins, and I had had a few of those in a row.

I try to keep an average of an hour a day, but don't stress about it .... it's just a guideline, not a have-to.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

I haven't "spoken" on the forum for a long time having decided not to follow through with a goal as i realized I was being overstressed by what I thought I could accomplish. So... I have decided to accomplish the areas most important first which is daily goals. The first is group swimming or walking my dogs straight after breakfast and dressing. Am getting pretty good at this because it is a routine that ends with activities that now make me feel energized.......and I then treat myself to a snack of what I fancy....healthy ones eg 1 wholegrain toast with peanut butter, honey, vegemite, cheese or nuts and fruit. Next I do look at my weekly/daily goal list. It is a small piece of paper sitting on a large piece of paper which has written on it "WEEKLY PLAN WITH FLEXIBILITY". Each day I have 2 small jobs or ! larger as well as appointments and social activities. As the week progresses I decide which jobs/activities aren't urgent and can be left if I don't want to do them. Like if I don't feel like ironing then I just iron what is needed for a couple of days...with the mantra 'don't do today what you can put off til tomorrow'......but I also know that it is a really great feeling to have completed the task! So...I have to make a judgement without judging myself. Most weeks I don't finish everything but that is ok. So today I swam after personal care, had snack. kept dr appt, 2 downtown jobs ie pay dog regos, scripts. Online to check friend re floods but saw Sane email so here I am, next will check facebook....It is too late to do some steamcleaning and it is cold and raining but I know I will have to do some tomorrow as family(with asthma) coming later in the week. Fairly soon I will curl up in bed to read a little, watch some tv eat dinner, take meds, have supper of yoghourt and cinnamon, turn the radio on softly and generally this is the go to sleep cue. I hope those with colds are feeling better and those in floods and rain are safe and can snuggle into a warm bed tonight.

Is there somewhere you can walk to @Shaz51 .... to provide you with some motivation ? I have made the commitment to wak to a licancoffee shop for my coffee every morning, because it is 10mins there, and 10mins back, just as a minimum.

Hi @earth, sounds like a positive plan you have going, and it sounds like it's really working for you. Thanks for sharing.

@Shaz51, I would have thought the work you do gave you a fair bit of exercise.

@Faith-and-Hope, three hours is a lot of walking.

I got in about an hour on the beach today and got through everything else on my list except making a green smoothie juice. Good to be back on my feet after being knocked down by the cold. Still not quite out of the woods yet but getting there.
