Daily goals, motivation and check in

Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm starting this discussion as a place where we can set our goals daily, help motivate each other to do them and then check in with how we went. It's a place to celebrate when we achieve them or just sit with each other if we didnt and are feeling down about it. Hopefully with encouragement and support from each other we'll tick lots of boxes for our daily goals and feel good about it. Please join in. 😊

Hello @Mazarita 🙂 Happy tears are so confusing aren't they? I've had quite a few of them on this site!

I'd say I am at that time of life (no wonder this Summer has been so cruel to me!), I'll have to 'look up' herbal remedies for it - or just go through it - it's not too bad yet. I wonder if it mucks with the chemicals in your brain?

I've 'looked up' groups online. I live pretty rural, there is a big town a couple of hours away - your a long, long way away 🙂 I'm pretty inland. Must be nice living near a beach 😄

Hey - I've done the dishes, and 3 lots of washing (I use a twin tub, water get too dirty after that) and am on the next lot!!!!! Yee Haa! 🙂

Hi @Former-Member.

Writing a response to you after I know you've gone to bed. Was kind of a hectic day today, by my standards.

I am really lucky living near the beach. I think you're lucky in some ways to be out of cities though.

The good old twin tub, eh? The one I had sounded like aircraft taking off when I put it on spin, betting yours does the same. Quite a ruccus, eh?! Really great going with the dishes and washing.

When you said 'I wonder if it mucks with the chemicals in your brain', did you mean menopause or the herbal remedy for it? The herbal remedy is fine as far as I know (it's black cohosh, by the way). It was recommended to me by my GP, who I have seen for nine years and really trust. Hormonal changes though are likely to be affecting our brain. But, personally, I'd say menopause hasn't treated me too badly on the mental health plane (two years into it).

Still wondering about how you could connect with more people in real life. There's a website called Meetup that hosts a lot of community groups from all round the world. Maybe if you look up the big town near you, you might find something happening of interest. I found a group ukelele class last year and joined that for a while. It was enjoyable even though I only socialised with those people when I was there for the class.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Good Morning @Mazarita 🙂 I hope your body, including your brain, is coping with your hectic day yesterday, today (bet that's as clear as mud) 🙂 Yeah the ol' twin tub can try to walk away sometimes 😄 Just as your lucky to be near a beach, I am lucky to be away from all the people 🙂

I've put a basket of washing on the line before I got on here today - I'm really flying 😄 😄 😄

I was wondering if the menopause, because I think it effects chemicals in the body, would effect the brain; as I do feel I'm getting worse as I get older - and that doesn't make sense since I've really tried to turn my life around the past half a decade or so. I'll look up that herbal remedy, I prefer herbal to . . . prescribed? (don't know what to call it).

I'll look up that Meetup too, though I think it rings a bell. Dare I say it's insane, I don't like people and yet I crave company from people!

Wishing you smiles today

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Morning, @Former-Member,

Yeah, at the end of last night I was pretty 'overtired' (combination of 'wired' and 'exhausted'). Couldn't sleep straight away but finally got in about 5-6 hours, which is better than 3 the two nights before that. Feeling tired this morning, but I often feel that way in the morning (and many other times!), so nothing out of the ordinary there.

Sorry to hear you feel you are getting worse as you get older. How does that manifest for you? I take quite a few psych medications which I think have arrested the general decline I go into without them. Yes, I prefer herbal if it works. But I've tried the main herbal alternative to anti-depressants (St. Johns Wort) and they just didn't seem to do anything (probably not powerful enough to shift my heavier depressions).

I would describe it more as ambivalent, that thing you said about disliking people but craving company. I relate to that too, especially when I'm in a more fragile state. I have a strong tendency to spend all my time in the flat if I don't make some effort to overcome that feeling. And I do feel better for the social contact, though it can temporarily take a toll on my nervous system. I have had social anxiety since childhood.

Your wish made me smile, so thanks for that. Great start! Big smiles to you too.

p.s. awesome job on getting the washing out so early, you go girl!

Hi @Former-Member @Mazarita ..... 😊💕

Well I'm up ..... ✅

Actually turned around and made my bed .... ✅ ..... but that's because some special family friends are coming for dinner .... thinking it will be better for the kids' state of mind to see me making my bed every day tho ... so gonna try to get that back onto The List.

Now to work out what to wear that I can stay in all day right through to tonight ... it's not a hot day forecast so that should be okay, but that means having a wash now too .... That has to be quick cos I'm trying to fit in a coffee shop dash ahead of leaving home for a 10am appointment .... hmmmm .....

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Hello @Mazarita, I've only just noticed your a Community Guide, I hope I'm not adding to some load you already carry. So the wired-exhausted almost doubled your sleep - that's got to be a good thing? 🙂 I never sleep straight away either, to be honest I don't think many people would. But once I'm asleep, these days anyway, I tend to stay that way all night 🙂 You've made me remember, I'm very lucky for that 🙂

You don't have to be sorry, it might just be natural, a part of getting older. It's hard to explain how I 'see' it, it's probably just that, I seem to 'see' it less and less. It's like sometimes it feels like my brain is firing on all cylinders, in fact there were times it felt like lightning. But those times are few and far between now, there seems to be more confusion, it's like I'm losing my intelligence. The psych medications just hurt my mouth and make me dream . . . and usually cost too much. That herbal anti-depressant you mentioned makes me feel sick.

I had to look ambivalent up 🙂 I've already forgotten what it said - but it made sense. I tend to see it as a conflict, like an argument in my own head 🙂 I've had to live in towns before and I didn't go out, unless drinking - not such a good scene. I've guided my life to where I am and I believe it is the best place for me, and yet sometimes it feels like I've just strenghtened the bars to my own cage. Social anxiety is another one of the titles that were mentioned to me, I didn't get given the titles until later in life, but I think I've been suffering since childhood too. I think I was about 4 when it started happening - don't want to go there . . .

You telling me I'm awesome and sending me Big smiles too - cracked my face and exposed all my little brown stumps 😄 LOL

Well, I've got another basket of washing to put out and some dishes to put away . . . and another coffee to make 🙂 So I think I'll head off and check in again later.

Keep smiling and have a great day

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

@Former-Member, no problem with the 'community guide' thing. We don't have any set 'jobs' or anything like that. It's really just being a regular member who, of our own accord and at our own pace, become a bit more involved in welcoming and supporting other members. No load talking to you, enjoy it.

I know what you mean about 'just getting older'. I certainly don't have the memory I had when I was younger and everything goes much slower with me. I'm also not as frantically ripped apart inside as I was when I was a younger person. Very grateful for that part of it.

Yes, ambivalence, inner conflict, liking and not liking, etc. I like words and tend to be a bit flowery in my speech sometimes.

Lol to your description of your big smile. I reckon any face is better looking with a smile cracking it open.

A friend is about to arrive here so I'll say cheerio for a while too.

Yay for your washing, dishes and coffee! Hope your day is great too!
