Daily goals, motivation and check in

Daily goals, motivation and check in

I'm starting this discussion as a place where we can set our goals daily, help motivate each other to do them and then check in with how we went. It's a place to celebrate when we achieve them or just sit with each other if we didnt and are feeling down about it. Hopefully with encouragement and support from each other we'll tick lots of boxes for our daily goals and feel good about it. Please join in. 😊

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Late to bed last night, playing a new video game....one of those Tom Clancy shootem games....heavy focus on guns etc. I hardly know which end is the dangerous end, go figure...oh I am a shocking pilot, crash helicopters etc before getting airborne...oh yeah I die frequently.....

Up very early because the cat wanted her first breakfast. Took a friend over to a bigger town where there is the regional hospital and they have stuff like nuclear medicine. This friend has cancer so I am trying to do her the odd good turn. She is one of 3 friends with the big C. All 3 are doing the battle but by goodness it makes one appreciate relative good health eh.

Madly finishing a knitted blanket as my mum is coming to visit with a very dear aunt. Both are getting frail, auntie is 90, mum is the immature one at 85. The aunt has not visited me here in NZ and it will be wonderful. She lives in London and the travel is starting to pall.

Life is good, cooler day and a bit of rain.....I ADORE rain!

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Hi all,

I finally got all my washing done yesterday. Only took me about ten days to get myself to do it after first posting it on my 'to do' list here. I ran out of nickers too, @Former-Member Ah but it feels so good when all the clothes are clean and all the clothing options in the wardrobe are available too.

Though I have changed the sheets now, I still haven't changed the doona cover, and have just been sleeping under the (clean) cover with no doona since I changed the sheets last week. Warm up here anyway so no real problem with just a doona cover for a blanket. But maybe I will get to putting that cover on the doona today. Bedroom will look less 'eccentric' that way.

Other than that today's plans are simple and social. Early afternoon meet up with some fellow MI sufferers at a local cafe, for friendly chat and yummy drink. This is a weekly social activity organised by a local mental health organisation. Sometimes I go to it, sometimes not. After that I'm getting together with a friend who has recently become a part-time peer worker in mental health. We haven't seen each other for weeks so looking forward to it.

The challenge will be not going back to bed and/or later becoming unwilling to move out of the flat. I've had very little sleep over the past couple of nights so tiredness is an extra hurdle to overcome today.

Hope it all goes well for everyone here.

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

@Mazarita I LOVE the way you describe your bedroom! 😄 😄 I now declare, my entire house and even my own appearance - 'eccentric'!

Still hot here too, though sometimes I think it's me, 'cause it seems to come in waves and I don't know if the atmospheric temperature is doing that (I might just be getting old 🙂 )

I've often wondered if there were groups that met for just social chat (I don't want to talk about other stuff). I've looked on the net - I know I wouldn't go in, not to start with, I'd want to just walk past - you know, check it out. I gather your not allowed to say, and it would be silly to do so, where you go; and I gather none of us are allowed to meet - the anonymity would go out the window.

My greatest wish - even more than getting out of my backyard, would be having a real friend.

I think you'd make a really good one, and maybe, just maybe, you'd be able to cope with me 🙂

Well I'd better get off here, sitting here isn't gettting anything done - I told myself I wouldn't turn the computer on this moring until I'd done something. I suppose that's a goal. I want to not turn it on until I've done something. Making my Good morning/afternoon/night a reward to myself 🙂

Re: Daily goals, motivation and check in

Thanks @Former-Member about what you said about friendship. For real, I got tears in my eyes! I like you too. And, yes, let's celebrate eccentricity!

Heat that comes in waves sounds like menopause. I take a herbal med for that, very effective, recommended by my GP. Pity I can't name it. But maybe you are not at that time of life yet.

I'm like you in that a real life support group situation is a bit intense for me. Tried it for a while early last year, liked some things about it, not others. I prefer to get together with people around activities or social chit chat, which can then more naturally progress to the deeper issues if we want. I'm on the southern Gold Coast. Can't name the organisation. But it is a community run organisation devoted to mental health. I highly recommend the kind of activities they operate if you can find them in your local area.

I hope you can find a real life friend. Knowing nothing about where you are really, I wonder how you could take some steps towards that happening for you. Any ideas along those lines?
