A hard day

A hard day

Just found out a friend's son was tragically taken from us yesterday. I won't put details here but it seems like it was a hit and run. I lost another friend a few years ago in similar circumstances.

Absolutely heartbroken 💔

Re: A hard day

@Zoe7 meds can be tricky and can cause so many side effects. Pdoc can advise you, but you know best. You can see how you go with the meds. I hope you get what you need from the supermarkets.

The migraine and nausea are a bit better after dinner. My migraines can improve with food, but migraines sort of take your appetite, it's difficult. Small meals are the way to go.

Re: A hard day

So far no side effects from the meds @creative_writer I am tired but that has been normal lately. It has only been a day though so I will see how the next couple go - fingers crossed it will continue being okay.

Funny story - it is really windy today but I still went out to sweep the sand over my pavers. When I got out there ....no sand (I spread it out yesterday to dry out). But guess what - all gaps filled - the wind did the job for me LOL I do need to water it in so I am sure some gaps will emerge again but most of the job is done. I also sprayed some weeds but no doubt now I have done that it will rain 🤪 I would really like to get back into the garden but I hate the wind so for now inside with the fur babies.

I do feel a little better today but I think that is also knowing I am not back to work until next week - a bit of relief and space to de-stress, get some work done and prepare for going back.

Glad to hear your migraine and nausea eased a bit - hope that has improved today for you Hon.

Re: A hard day

@Zoe7 the wind can either work in your favour, or it doesn’t. Glad it worked in your favour. I personally hate standing in strong wind too, it feels uncomfortable, not even sure why.

I think it’s good that you recognised that you needed space, sometimes it’s hard to acknowledge that. I hope you find healing in that time off💖

Migraine is mild right now, but it’s hard to know what will happen later in the day. I’m still super agitated and don’t know why

Re: A hard day

That's tough not knowing why you feel agitated @creative_writer Sometimes it is hard to put a finger on why we feel like we do. I used to love to go to the pool and just float around when I wasn't feeling okay ...but can't do that anymore. The pool I went to closed down and I cannot arfford the rates at any others. It was through the YMCA so prices were very reasonable ...and I went a few times a week so it made it worthwhile. Now whenever I feel the need to swim/float I fill the bath LOL

I have been outside for a little while - keep going out with a break in the wind and then back in when it picks up again ...presently feeling like a yo-yo 🤪

Re: A hard day

@Zoe7 it's probably a bipolar thing. I think getting enough sleep will help. I may have woken up too early. I haven't been to the pool for a while, I used to go weekly as a kid. We do have a tub but we never use it. Everything is so expensive. I feel like essentials like food should be cheaper, the profit margins are steep and it's not fair for those who are struggling financially.

That would feel very yo-yo. Sometimes it feels like the wind in Melbourne is strong enough to blow me away. I have a friend who has wind allergies, so she starts crying. You're in Tassie, aren't you?

Re: A hard day

Yes I am in Tassie @creative_writer I do love Tassie but do not like the cold so for a few months I have on half my closet to keep warm lol

Everything is so expensive Hon. Paying my mortgage, bills and chemist do not leave much for food ...and luxuries are not even on the agenda. Throw in fur babies and I really struggle. My Mum has been helping me with my mortgage for the last 6ish months. When interest rates increased I was paying an extra $500 a month and on one income it was really scary. That goodness for my Mum (and sister if there is an emergency). I used to hate asking for a loan from either of them but now I often have no choice. I should have a few debts paid off in the next couple of months. Fingers crossed nothing else breaks or fur babies do not need to go to the vet. All going okay - I should finally be able to begin saving a little.

Re: A hard day

@Zoe7 the cold wouldn't be so fun in Tassie. Being cozy is so much more practical and better than being fashionable. I don't know how people cope.

It is hard paying for everything with only one salary. I feel like society favours the rich but not the ones that are struggling. I couldn't have survived on my own with no salary, I still live with my parents. I do think they would only want me to move out after getting married.

It's sweet that your mum is willing to help, but I do know it sucks. I hope your furbabies stay healthy, it not only expensive but super stressful when they get sick

Re: A hard day

I could not buy a house today @creative_writer so lucky to get in when I did before prices and interest rates went crazy. It is a struggle on one income though.

Thankfully fur babies are well but I know I am about to run out of Toby's medication so that will be one of the expenses I have already factored in to what I have to pay off.

Speaking of fur babies - better feed them. Back later.

Re: A hard day

@Zoe7 when my dad bought our family house it wasn’t as crazy expensive. He did take out a loan though.

Medical costs can be so expensive. Living is more expensive than it used to be. I feel like the prices have increased a lot since COVID.

I hope you give you fur babies some biscuits and love 💖. They can be so soothing and take away a lot of stress from you

Re: A hard day

When my sister sold her unit @creative_writer she got more than 3 times what she paid for it and that was just in 10 years. My house is worth more than double what I paid for it. If I was to purchase the same house now ....well, I couldn't. There is no way I could pay the mortgage on one income. It is ridiculous ...do not know how anyone can buy in these times.

Medical costs really are expensive and unfortunately it is those that really need it who cannot afford it. The health system overall is so broken and the government certainly does not put the money into the right places - but why would they listen to the people, especially those with lived experience in the mental health sector.
