A hard day

A hard day

Just found out a friend's son was tragically taken from us yesterday. I won't put details here but it seems like it was a hit and run. I lost another friend a few years ago in similar circumstances.

Absolutely heartbroken 💔

Re: A hard day

@Zoe7 each to their own beliefs. We all cope with grief in our own way.

I would love to do research part time but research jobs are so competitive, there are probably PhD students applying for those. Social work is also really behind in research and there isn't much out there. I do have previous psych degrees, but I've only done four years, my fourth year was an honours equivalent. Psych research has more options, but it is very competitive.

Emotionally driven jobs can get tiring after some time when doing them full time. Most grad jobs are full time. I can see how I go, I think it will be easier to move around once you're in and getting experience. I think sometimes you need to test the waters before you know what is the right job

Re: A hard day

Maybe one day when you have been in work for a while, you can develop your own research @creative_writer 👍🤪

I'm off to bed Hon - fur babies fed their biscuits early so nothing to do but sleep now ...and hope tonight is better.

Re: A hard day

I got out early @creative_writer Chemist, supermarket and voting ...then home and slept for a few hours. This afternoon I got outside again and swept some sand over my paths then watered it in. I need to do it again tomorrow to fill the rest of the gaps but it was quite peaceful doing it today. My new neighbour came over to see how yesterday went. I mentioned the funeral in passing last week but he remembered. They are a lovely young couple - only moved in 2 weeks ago - so to do that was so lovely. Toby loves him already so that has been a pretty good sign he is a good person - and to do that today proved that.

I have decided to take Monday off. I have an early morning pdoc appointment and don't think I would be any use afterwards so made the decision early. I am hoping to get some PRN to get me through the rest of the week - which should not be a problem. I think it is about 2 years since I have needed those so in the short term I think it is a good idea.

How has your day been Hon?

Re: A hard day

@Zoe7 sounds like you have lovely neighbours 💖. Pets can tell when people are good people, they have the 6th sense. Their senses are very heightened.

I hope you are able to rest on Monday, pdoc can take a lot out of you. PRN sounds like a good idea, I might need some myself today too.

I am emotionally and physically exhausted today, I haven’t done much, I went for voting and went to the shopping centre after lunch

Re: A hard day

I get that @creative_writer Please look after yourself tonight Hon.

I was going to make a cake but my oven just blew up. There were sparks and smoke but I got it turned off before it got worse and with the door closed it burnt out quickly. Going to need a new oven but that will be some time away as I can't afford it 😢

Re: A hard day

@Zoe7 my head sort of feels heavy. Maybe I need food but I don’t feel hungry.

Oh gosh, that’s awful. I hate when home essentials stop functioning. It can be so expensive to replace appliances. Though I’m glad you’re at least safe

Re: A hard day

I don't use the oven a lot so can get by for a while without it but it is going to be expensive to replace @creative_writer I may as well save to get what I want rather than just replace with the cheapest I can find. Once I have paid off some debts I will be able to save a little but it will be at least 6 months before that will happen. My Mum might be able to help sooner but I hate asking. Thinking of visiting my parents and sister tomorrow if I am feeling okay but will see how I am in the morning.

Food sounds like a good idea Hon - sometimes we just need to do the basics even if we do not feel like it.
