A hard day

I got some sleep last night @creative_writer so feeling a little better today. I am still in disbelief about my friend's boy but that is not likely to change in a hurry. She is trying to stay strong but I there will no doubt be a big crash at some time. Her sister is with her so that is heartening - they are very close and will help each other. I have support from my sister and that is helping me ...and of course my fur babies are close by. Keeping busy is on the cards for me today. Going to go outside soon and do some more painting.

Painted the sleepers for my front garden edging. Want to take the edges off today so I can join and lay them but I am pretty tired today so will see how I go.

We have a day/time for the funeral now so I will need to see if I can have the afternoon off work next week on that day.

I love doing all that home stuff @creative_writer I can do it all day, every day, when I have the energy and mind space. I took some time out yesterday to watch the footy and rest for a bit then back outside to join some sleepers before it got dark. They will be ready to cut now today. I won't get it all finished before I go back to work tomorrow but there is nothing that cannot wait.

The funeral is at the end of the week so I am hoping I can get the time off. They are usually really good with those things - last funeral I attended I only found out about the same morning (the person telling me about it forgot to until the day of) and they worked around it for me. I did go back to work that day, which was really hard but also a good distraction. Kids have a beautiful way of making days like that easier. This one is a bit different though - someone so young and I still can't comprehend it. Each day is still hard and it is still very much in my thoughts. Less tears now but lots of grief still.

I went to work yesterday @creative_writer but now have the rest of this week off. Burst into tears when I got to work today then spoke to my Ass Principal and Principal and we agreed I should take time off at least until after the funeral. I am not coping well at all. Thankfully, my pdoc fitted me in this morning and agreed the same. Going forward we will wait until after Friday and see how I am over the weekend. She has scheduled an early morning call on Monday morning to check in but I am to contact her over the weekend if I need more time off.

Spent the day on the couch with Tobes @creative_writer and Clover on and off - cats definitely do their own thing.

Just got outside for a bit - fixed my front fence and painted the edges of my new-to-be-laid garden edging. It is all joined and painted - just needs to be put in place and concreted in ...then I can lay the path properly. That might be the up side of some time off. My pdoc wants me to get outside and do the things I love. I really did not feel like doing any of that today but to do just a little is a win. I can't stay on the couch all week as both my pdoc and I know the more time I have to 'do nothing', the quicker I go down hill to a place hard to recover from - that is why we are not planning any further than the weekend at present to see how I feel after the funeral.
