Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

@Flutterbug9 haha that top one is so accurate with labs, they love their food.

The piano puppies, that's the only type of piano I need 😂.

Thankyou for sharing sweetheart, hope you are doing ok ❤️.

Re: Battles

Thought I shared too much with someone off the forums earlier which left me feeling really miserable.

Thing I don’t like about written word is, at times, can be hard to know the feeling of the other person.

we both were at trivia this afternoon and had chance to have good chat. I got pleasant surprise when she said she isn’t surprised regarding my thoughts and feelings and to her, knowing me for last couple years, it makes sense.

Ive made decision to start dropping the mask and stop trying to pretend I’m a girlie girl which I’m not. Feeling more at peace within myself last couple days since booking hairdresser appointment to have, what some might say radical, hair cut. Going from conventional one length all over with a fringe to (or something similar).

had similar style hair cut in my 20’s, initially due to overseas trip and roughing it accomodation wise. Years later I went to similar as I have atm, helped keep the peace with my mother

as soon as I saw the black lab pup I knew I had to send it to you. 😀

@Flutterbug9 I'm sorry you felt like you shared too much and it left you feeling miserable, it can be so hard to open up and it makes you feel very vulnerable. Hugs to you sweet ❤️.

It can be very hard to get things across when it's written down i completely understand that. It's why it's hard on here sometimes cos things can come across wrong or be taken out of context.

I'm glad you got to have a chat at trivia this afternoon and it sounds like she has an understanding already of your thoughts and feelings.

Dropping the mask is a big decision so I'm really proud of you for making it and i hope it helps you to feel more comfortable within yourself. I'm not a girlie girl myself due to trauma growing up and also in my teenage years through to adulthood. I don't wear dresses and always like to have a baggy hoodie on to hide my body as I don't feel comfortable in my own skin.

That hair cut is awesome, i love it ☺️. I have long hair but my hair is thick and curly so if I cut it short it just goes all poofy and i don't have the patience to maintain it 😂.

The lab pictures are perfect ☺️

I am so upset for you too @MissGremlin 😔

You're allowed to feel all that you are feeling around this - this is genuinely so, so hard.

I really encourage you to sign up for Recovery Club whilst we are reopening - it's the perfect opportunity for you to access support. You will get to talk with some wonderful people who would love to be there for you.

Here is the link if you decide to look into it: https://www.sane.org/recovery-club

Oh that's so sweet. I am very glad to hear a friend showed up for you. 🥰

Sometimes feeling happiness can be genuinely scary! I know for myself, when I have been through a tough time, it often feels safer to hold on to the heaviness, rather than allow myself to feel joy - because 'what if it shifts?' But I have noticed that allowing joy to ebb and flow is such an important part of recovery, so that our body remembers that lightness is accessible and possible.

I know that you are feeling some anger, so I am curious what that anger might need to feel soothed? Because you are absolutely allowed to feel joy and I am glad that you had a moment of happiness today. 💛

Re: Battles

@AuntGlow I will have a look into it. It's the group side of things that I can't do though (even if it's only online and camera/voice is turned off), I physically can't do groups cos of my anxiety.

It was really nice to see her for a while and i enjoyed being out with her and bubs.

That's the thing when I feel joy or happiness I'm constantly waiting for it to all come crashing down, it's like I find myself focusing on how long it's going to last until it does.

Things got really bad here for a while as my internet has been having issues and I've spent over 2½ hours on the phone to my provider over the past few days trying to sort it out. They decided I needed a new modem so they sent one out only the new one doesn't have enough ports for me to plug everything in as I have an old TV that's not wifi enabled. So essentially the new modem is useless to me. So I'm back on the old modem with internet that drops out sometime every 5 minutes which is incredibly frustrating.

I'm not sure what that anger feeling might need, I've tried to do things to help it settle but it's still there. I cleaned my bird out, picked up Caspers business, emptied the bins and put them out, did my dishes, fed Casper, had an iced coffee and I've got my music on. I haven't eaten yet today as I'm not getting the hunger feeling but I know i need to eat something even if it's only small.

Re: Battles

That souds so frustrating! Can they come out and help you sort it out? @MissGremlin

Re: Battles

@tyme i need to buy another part in order to use the new modem. But they are also replacing the cabling outside cos it's running on the old network cables so they are part of the issue. But they had technicians out here just before Christmas and they couldn't solve it.

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin Growing up I was daddy’s girl, whatever he did I wanted to be in on it too. Used to get annoyed with the comment “fishing is for boys”.

i don’t wear dresses or makeup. Jeans, trackers, oversized t-shirts, runners. That’s my wardrobe

talking with the lady today she said since almost first time we met her thoughts of me have been a protector who doesn’t fit into the norm

Re: Battles

@Flutterbug9 i don't have a dad so never had any experiences with one, but I always played footy with the boys at school and dressed/acted like a tomboy. The comments of certain things only being for boys including fishing annoys me aswell.

I don't wear make-up either, I like baggy cargo pants with my hoodies and I only own one pair of shoes being my sneakers (unless you wanna count my stitch slippers 😂).

That's really interesting of your friends thoughts of you, how do you feel about that?
