Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Re: Battles

Monotony of a non-positive / non-joyous life ... 😣 ... it is exhausting! I watched the video this evening posted yesterday (?) on The Psychology Of People Who Are Tired Of Existing Right Now which I thought was pretty spot-on. The need to just rest and not push. I wonder if it might also resonate a bit with @NightFury actually, with regard to the experience of having continued to "go through the motions" to no avail and how exhausting that is, and the need to simply rest, with no demands.

Is it weird that not working hasn't felt weird to me so far?

I guess I have felt busy or unwell mentally most of the week, and before that people were on holidays anyway. I wonder if at some stage if will feel weird to not be working during the weekdays for me...

Re: Battles

@AlwaysMyself i will check that video out later, thankyou ☺️.

As for work i think it's still that holiday period that could be why it doesn't feel weird yet. But maybe it's also that your mind/body knows that you need this time off?

Re: Battles

Yeah, will be interesting to see over the upcoming weeks. Perhaps when I stop feeling so tired in my down-time. Although by then the tafe diploma i am doing self-paced online (with a lot of "recognition of prior learning" credits) will have started, so that will take up some of my time and probably help with that feeling of "work" focus. It's a language diploma, since I am already fluent - i mostly need to do the theory subjects which is what i want to learn more about (the formal grammar, etc).

I shall head to bed and see if I can get some sleep before midnight @MissGremlin . Thankfully no set plan for tomorrow, but hope to help my mother a little.

Hope you sleep well, with many cuddles and pats to Casper and Stella.

Re: Battles

@AlwaysMyself the tafe diploma sounds good and I'm sure it will definitely help with that feeling of "work" focus.

I hope you can get a good night's sleep.

Thankyou for chatting tonight ❤️

Re: Battles

Hey @MissGremlin @AlwaysMyself

Just reading through this and I have basically written the same thing! It sounds like we all get it. Which I kinda think is sad, we shouldn’t get it, it shouldn’t be this hard, it shouldn’t happen. But it does and sometimes it just doesn’t feel fair but at least we are more on our own.

I watched that video and it resonated so so so much. I often say I don’t want to exist, I’m tired of existing, I’m just tired. The first thing my psych asks is if I’m suicidal and usually it’s a no and that I’m 100% safe. All she says is that she wanted it to be clear. Then she talks about it similar to that video. That it’s ok to rest, that it’s ok to slow down, it’s ok to take time out. It was kinda like listening to my psych but I needed to hear it again.

Thanks for sharing it.

Im really hoping you are both asleep right now.

@Captain24 in a way it's nice to know that you're not alone in these things but at the same time it's horrible to know that others feel the same way cos it's not a nice thing to go through.

I plan to watch the video later today so I'll let you know what I think about it when I do.

I'm not asleep, I woke up in a panic over an hour ago. I've been trying to get through to a crisis service but it's been busy (I'm safe).

You say it better than I do! I suck at words! 😂 @MissGremlin

I really hoped you watch it, there is a lot in it!

I hope you get through soon. I’m so glad that you ring for help. I don’t and I should but my anxiety wins every time. When I do ring I often find it helpful.

Re: Battles

@Captain24 haha you don't suck at words. Plus you don't see how many times I edit what I'm trying to say before I post, or how long it takes me to reply 😂.

I will definitely watch it. Just need to be more awake to do so lol.

I usually connect using the chat option cos i don't like phone calls. I managed to get through but unfortunately the person wasn't helpful. Anyway I'm going to see if I can get some more sleep. Hoping you can either sleep or get up and find some things to do. I shall chat to you later today sweet, night night ❤️.
