Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

None of the usual things are working to calm you down a little? Is there anything I can do while you wait to get through to lifeline? Hopefully you get someone like that previous one.

Re: Battles

@MJG017 nope nothing is working. I've splashed water on my face, I've tried to listen to music, watched my TV show, I tried to do some colouring, I've watched some funny videos, tried to use various fidget toys, I've got my weighted blanket on me, i got up and walked around earlier. I've tried so many things but yet I'm still so worked up and feeling like I'm going to explode and lose control and I don't like the feeling. I'm honestly out of ideas and patience.

You've tried most things I could think of with my limited experience. Other than punching a pillow. Maybe you've tried that was well. Or the dog is currently using it. Have you tried telling him what is on your mind? I know it's weird, but it may help to get it out of your head, even if it is just to a sleeping dog.

Other than that, I'm here with you while I'm still awake. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help.

Re: Battles

@MJG017 the dog is hogging my pillow but I don't even have the energy to punch it (the pillow that is). I did talk to him earlier but he was too busy snoozing to pay any attention.

Thankyou, I got through but the person was far from understanding so I ended the chat. I've started another wait in the queue but I'm not sure i have it in me to wait much longer.

What have you got planned tomorrow or today now?

Well damn it! I was almost finished the reply, touched the wrong bit on the phone and it all disappeared!!! 🤬

Now to remember what I typed....

It must be so frustrating and disheartening to get someone not very understanding. I'm sorry it wasn't more helpful.

If your new pup is going to lay there snoozing away, then try sitting there right next to him and watch him peacefully sleeping away. Think of the fun you've had with him already and the fun and companionship to come. You're partners now and he needs you. So maybe those thoughts will calm you down and bring you some positive vibes to help you through.

There is nothing much happening with my day. Yes, I know... What a shock! 😁. I am expecting my drugs to arrive today, so assuming they do, a quick drive down to Flinders to pick them up from the pharmacy. Other than that probably just sitting at my PC playing my game. Yep, a busy and productive day all right! 😂

Hey @MJG017 @MissGremlin I only noticed tonight that I don’t get this space on my Latest Discussion Page anymore.
When did that change?

I have been missing this conversation and only picking up stuff you write both on the other spaces

Wow @MissGremlin your assistance dog is very cute. Surely they’re improving your mood? I know that at times my dogs have kept me alive (even though they are not assistance dogs).

@MJG017 has something changed medically for you?

I have been on the forums a bit less of late. Due mainly to work but also feeling a bit down and worried about talking to people.

Re: Battles

@MJG017 oh I hate that, it's happened to me so many times.

Yes it's frustrating to say the least, I went from someone that wasn't understanding to someone that was too freaked out and just wanted to call emergency services on me which wasn't necessary so my only option was to try and force myself to sleep, partly successful cos I got a little bit of sleep but now I'm awake having a panic attack.

Yes having the pup does help a little bit but there's also the anxiety over what the future holds with him. There's too many unknowns, can I afford this, will he make it as an assistance dog, what if something happens to him, do I deserve him etc. So yes he is a positive but also very much a big trigger given past history.

Sounds like a nice relaxing day really. Hopefully if your drugs do come in it's a nice drive down to Flinders without too many idiots on the road, I've encountered a few lately. But chilling at home playing your game sounds like a good way to spend the day and a bonus that you have the company of the cats 😊.

Re: Battles

@Till23 oh that's frustrating. You've definitely missed alot as I keep most of my things on this thread to try and avoid clogging up other people's feeds.

Yes my new pup is slightly helpful with my mood but given the trauma from having my last assistance dog put down when she was only 3 (last year) and losing my other 3 dogs in the past few years (2 in 2022 on the same day and 1 in 2019) it's very much bitter-sweet. There's alot of anxiety with this one because he is from the same breeder where my last assistance dog came from so that fear of something happening to him is very much a thing I worry and overthink about.

I know you've been having a tough time lately but please know you are always welcome to share anything here, we all have our good and bad times and we are here for you through them both. Here to celebrate the wins when things are going well and here to encourage and support you when things aren't going so well.

Morning @amonrae04, it's not usually by choice but when one's mind is racing and you're flooded with intrusive thoughts and flashbacks well sleep doesn't come easily 😂. But hey i made it through the night,

How are you today?
