Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin sorry to 'throw' it at you 😅 I didn't know if you'd seen it before. I know the uncertainty can be rough going. I wish I had some way to reassure you.

Yes NDIS is a very draining process from what I hear. I guess it's about weighing up whether it's worth the effort long-term.

Maybe it's worth starting a thread about it? Not one that devolves into system-cynicism, but something to support those who are thinking of taking that path?

Re: Battles

@Jynx it's all good. I've seen it and i respect peoples wishes of taking breaks, leaving etc. But yes that uncertainty really does suck to sit with.

The NDIS process is tough and there's been times where I've questioned whether it's worth the stress but reality is that it's probably the only way I'm going to be able to get long term support.

I've seen threads about it previously from others that have had a hard time navigating the process. Not sure I'd really want to open up that can of worms so to speak cos I imagine it could hold some pretty intense thoughts about it with some people.

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin hmm you may be right - it could be a very emotive topic, for sure. I can imagine there are many who hold some strong opinions about NDIS.

Where's the NDIS-style support for those seeking to get onto NDIS?! That's a derisive laugh there. 😅

Re: Battles

@Jynx haha that's honestly the most perfect statement 😂.

I'm trying to focus on my diamond art but certain thoughts are getting stronger (I'm safe). I did reach out to a crisis service twice but found it hard to communicate. Feeling a bit stuck at the moment and I'm not tired so trying to switch off and rest isn't an option

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin I'm glad to hear you are taking the steps you can in order to keep yourself safe. Definitely rough when it's hard to get the words out in order to communicate our needs hey.

Maybe a little sensory shift? Change the room/lighting/background noise, have a shower or a cuppa, or engage in some gentle movement? Play the wild card and do something spontaneous perhaps, like baking or finger-painting or find a silly kids movie to watch? Expel your feelings into some poetry maybe?

You got this hun, you are a warrior 💜

Re: Battles

@Jynx I'm trying so hard to keep myself safe but yes it's hard when the words won't come. It's also hard to focus when one is in so much pain physically, (I'm safe) sitting with chest pain that's enough to make me have to breathe through it until it passes. Don't worry if it doesn't settle I'll call an ambulance but for the moment I'm just hoping it eases soon.

I'm just finishing this section on my diamond art then I'm going to make some lucky stars. Might change from watching true blood to the big bang theory.

Thankyou sweet ❤️. Though I really don't feel like a warrior.
