Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Battles

Battles

Hi all, does anyone else just feel like life is just one big sh!t show? It's just one thing after another, constant drama, family issues, money struggles, stress, anxiety it's just always something.

When do things get easier, do things ever change?

I've been through more than i care to think about in my life but today has pushed me to breaking point and it's bringing up alot of bad memories of previous suicide attempts.

I just feel like it's not worth it, it's not worth fighting, not worth hanging on anymore.

Re: Battles

@NightFury sorry to hear you lost, maybe next time will be different.

Sounds like a full on day for you, anything in particular set things off sweet?

My day has been overwhelming. While I was at the shops the alarm in the centre went off and was going off for like 30 minutes, so it was very much sensory overload when I was already dysregulated. I was very glad to get home after the shopping trip.

Re: Battles

I had plumbers in yesterday @MissGremlin to install a drip tray underneath the hot water cylinder. Luna went to my Mum and Dad's for the day and I went to work.

I had a shower this morning and it was barely warm. Now...I don't know if I can explain it. The shower is a regulating space for me. The heat of the water plays a big role in that. I need a really hot shower to feel clean, to feel comforted, to really help my sensory issues with itchy skin and feeling icky.

And this triggered a melt down. Instantly, I thought the plumbers had turned the thermostat down and I was about ready to turn the power off, get out mt tool box, take the panel off and try and turn the thermostat up myself. But...I didn't have time, I had to go to bowls.

I cried while I drove and worked myself up so my breathing was off. I asked a man I play bowls with and told him about it and he said to check the meter box because they may have forgotten to flick the switch back on.

Then when I went to change into my bowls clothes. I had freak out because I couldn't find my socks. I tried to play without socks, but it felt horrible. And I decided to retrace my steps and I found them on the ground in the carpark.

Then I went to the supermarket after bowls and the alarm went off. Juat like your experience...and it was so noisey and loud and jarring. I checked out my stuff and left as fast as I could. So, I can relate with you there.

When I got home...I checked my fuse box and it was as my bowls team mate said...they hadn't flicked the switch..

It was all over silly, ridiculous things.

Re: Battles

@NightFury ok firstly I don't see these as silly, ridiculous things. What I do know is that when things have been and are tough for a period of time all it takes is something that seems so minor to set us off. But in retrospect it's a massive build up that's led to that point.

I completely understand the shower temperature thing. I'm glad it was a simple fix but still incredibly frustrating.

Also glad you found your socks, even just the thought of playing without socks is enough to make me go funny so I totally get it.

Oh the shopping centre alarms are horrible, I'm sorry you had that experience aswell on top of an already very overwhelming day.

You are home now, you are safe, you have Luna with you and we are here aswell. You've made it through the day a very full on day but you've done it. Breathe sweetheart, I'm proud of you ❤️.

Sensory stuff is hard for me sometimes @MissGremlin there are days when my senses feel...raw...and today is one of those days.

It wasn't silly and ridiculous at the time, it just feels silly to react like that...but I also realise that I'm judging myself harshly.

I'm proud of you too, my friend. We've both made it through today, and it was a tough one for both of us.

Hello @tyme ❤️

Re: Battles

It sounds like we all have our own battles to contend with. @NightFury @MissGremlin . Life might be a bed of roses, but we all know roses have thorns.

That's why we have each other. To sit with each other, encourage each other and share the inkling of hope we may have.

I hear it's not easy, but we have each other.

Re: Battles

@MissGremlin I'm doing my Funnings date tomorrow. Bestie and I only live 10 minutes from each other but she's usually so busy we don't get to catch up as often as we'd like.

Have you had a chance to have a rest today?

Re: Battles

@NightFury completely relate to those days sweet.

We are always quick to judge ourselves but we wouldn't do the same to others so it's a reminder to be kind to ourselves.

Thankyou sweetheart ❤️. Despite how tough the day has been, i think we've done well to make it through ☺️.
