Talking through trauma and PTSD

Safe Now

Safe Now

I went and saw my psychologist yesterday. We talked about some of my trauma stuff in both yesterday’s session and the session before it. Now I am here today having to reassure myself that I am safe now!

Hi @tyme

I didn’t end up using a chat service but my psychologist did check in with me. I am still having some flashbacks especially as I am trying to fall asleep which are distressing. The psychologist want to do processing next appointment but I don’t have an appointment till the 5th.

I got a referral for 3 sessions with a counsellor from Tafe today as well as the name of an Aboriginal Corporation who deal with trauma.

That's great @Oaktree . At least you are reaching out. I hope it is a step in the right direction to help you through this rough patch. Do you think you are doing too much and your body is run down?

Thinking of you.

My husband forgot to wake me for my second lot of tablets one day last week. I am particularly sensitive to the level of this particular medication. Hopefully it settles soon.

@tyme

I just emailed my psychologist with my concerns about the therapy she is suggesting. I had 9 points of concern. She won’t get back to me for over a week as she is taking all of the next week off. I am going to go find a safety plan online for just in case. With my history it might be good to have one in place before I actually need it.

I'm glad you were able to reach out about your concerns @Oaktree . That's important. And with the safety planning, good on you for being proactive. Do you use the beyond blue safety planning app?
