Talking through trauma and PTSD

Safe Now

Safe Now

I went and saw my psychologist yesterday. We talked about some of my trauma stuff in both yesterday’s session and the session before it. Now I am here today having to reassure myself that I am safe now!

@tyme

I have been a bit quiet on the forums for a few days so I wanted to reassure you that I am ok. I have friends visiting so I have been busy. After they go home I will be babysitting until Saturday so I am not sure how much I will be online this week. My friends visiting has been a great distraction and I am enjoying myself. It has been a good break from all the distressing thoughts.

Good to hear you had a reasonable day @Oaktree

I really do appreciate talking about therapy, cos for most of the time, 40 years, I really had nobody to discuss it with. My sister spoke a little about with me, in the 3 years before she died. I did a little bit, but we had such complex childhoods and she had a lot longer in foster care than I did. I have now studied it from a few angles, so plenty to reflect on.

Thanks for letting us know you are busy.

Enjoy your week.

Re: Safe Now

Thanks for the update my dear @Oaktree . And yes, I have been quite concerned about you. In a way, as you said, it's probably a good distraction.

We are here for you. Only a tag away.

Hugs.

Hi Apple,

it’s good to have a space to talk about therapy. Sometimes kicking it about with other people helps to make sense of it all. I can’t imagine what it was like for you growing up in the foster care system. I have heard some pretty terrible stories about that. Love to you hun x

Re: Safe Now

Thank you @Oaktree you are one of the few who has actually said something like that. It's why I felt good standing with Stolen Generations in silent protests.

Hi,

I have had a nice last few days. I had friends arrive from interstate. I went out with them every day and my hubby cooked every night except one where they took us out. We played games most nights. I discovered a new game called Muffin Time which I enjoyed enormously. It was a really good distraction from my therapy.

Hey @Oaktree ! That sounds so so amazing!

I'm so glad to hear that it's been a good distraction - AND, you didn't have to cook! Woohoo!!

We're here to support you - always. To help you get to the place you want to be.

So proud of you @Oaktree .

@Jynx

You start with 3 cards and you get Muffin Time if you have 10 cards. However there are traps and counters as well as action cards. Half the time other players are making you discard cards. Its a really fun game. But be careful you don’t laugh because that is one of the trap cards people can place

Re: Safe Now

Omg yes @Oaktree I love it!! Love silly little games like that, played one recently called '5-Minute Dungeon' where you have 5 minutes to beat all these bosses by playing your cards well - was especially great for my nephew, cos he struggles with competing against others so playing a collaborative game was super fun!

Ach, I've been craving some silly!! Might have to organise a board games night or something. Wish we could play on forums.... Hmmm @tyme food for thought? Hehehe
