The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

Welcome to The Sane Cattery, the totally rational, completely normal place where we - totally sane humans - gather to admire our feline overlords. This is a judgment-free zone (unless your cat is the one doing the judging, which, let’s be honest, they always are). Feel free to share photos of your majestic moggies, chaotic kitties, and everything in between. Whether they’re plotting world domination, defying the laws of physics, or simply loafing like sentient bread, we want to see them. Because nothing says "sane" like dedicating an entire discussion to our tiny, furry dictators.

@tyme @avant-garde @Ru-bee @Former-Member

Allow me to begin...

Here is our oldest, Roughy who is 9.

Ryker, who is 7. Trying to convince himself he still fits in this thing like a glove!

And the latest edition, Luna (14 weeks)

...and another one of Luna, 'cause she's so damn cute.

I have been instructed to say that she was in no way stuck, and was just testing my responsiveness.

Re: The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

@Goldy71 I love the first photo and your comment, it gave me a good giggle 😂🤣

I was just talking to @MissGremlin and her dog's name is Casper. Which is fine, but that is also the name that my partner has given his privation region for some reason. Lol So as soon as I see the name Casper, that's the first thing that pops into my head. At least now I have two adorable animals, to redirect my thinking when I see their name. So thank you to the both of you ❤️

Re: The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

@GezzaP thanks for that. I am going shopping today so I'll make sure I add the ingredients I need to make it.

I hope your day goes well, enjoy an afternoon nap.

I have been waking up around 5.30 with the sun coming into my room after having a large tree removed from the front yard. I didn't realise how much shade it threw over my window!

And to keep it cat related, here's my boy saying hello to everyone 🙂

Hello Sane family!

Re: The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

Tiger is 16 this December. We gave her the same birthday as my daughter because she was found on a friend's property and we had to guessimate her age. She is recovering from a paralysis tick which knocked her around but our vet is an absolute legend and she's doing good now. I'm going to nominate him for Australian of the year!

Her teeth are mostly broken off, leaving the nubs, so she can still fang out on biscuits. She's a absolute hussy for Doritos 😂😆

She's also really into chlorine. When we get out of the pool, she's tries to gnaw on our toes. @ENKELI @Mustang67

Re: The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

@Goldy71 Wow 16, that is getting old. Do you agree that cats seem to be living longer these days?

What effects did the paralysis tick have on her? I assume some or all of her would have been paralysed, hence the name of the tick.

I can't believe that she eats Doritos. Well cats like cheese and that's what they are coated in aren't they. So, I suppose that would make sense. But the chlorine, nah I don't understand that one. Lol Cat's are funny creatures aren't they?

@Goldy71 @Mustang67 my former friends' cat loved corn chips too! I have a photo of him with his head stuck in the bag, licking the crumbs!

Mr MurderMittens is not adventurous with human food, he likes Temptations cat treats - we call them Kitty Krack - and his wet pouches.

My other cat Gypsy likes raw chicken and will meow loudly when I am preparing a chicken meal. I always make sure to give her some. She's had all but a couple of her teeth out and she still manages to munch on biscuits, like your girl, Goldy. I just looked up cats and chlorine and apparently the smell can trigger a euphoric response in cats. Sounds like she likes it because it makes her feel good, how gorgeous!!

We had a Siamese who lived to 19. She developed kidney disease and given her age the vet didn't want to put her through any extra stress.

I agree Mustang, cats do seem to live longer these days. Gypsy is 16 as well and she still acts like a kitten when she gets the zoomies.

Re: The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

@ENKELI Now that you mention the head in the corn chips bag, I can remember seeing Reggie do that with the potato chip packet. Lol

Temptations, so that's what the Kitty Krack is all about 🤣

Every couple of weeks or so, I buy 2kg of kangaroo mince and I will sit at mum's and divide them up into 60 gram bags, so mum just has to pull it out of the freezer the night before and Cindy's tea is ready. But when I first arrive Cindy sits by my side, and I will drop some mince on the floor for her. And if I am taking too long, the paw comes up to touch my leg. Sometimes the claws are out and sometimes they are not.

On to a different subject, how is your shoulder today?

So, basically Tiger is getting high from licking the chlorine of people's feet. No wonder she does it 😂

Re: The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

@Mustang67 I had a chuckle at your comment about Tiger!

The shoulder is better today, thanks. It's still sore and I am going to have to go to see my GP...blech because it's been painful for a while (like several months). I am wanting to find out if a physio health plan with Medicare is more affordable than using my private health cover.

@MJG017 @Goldy71 @AuntGlow @GezzaP @avant-garde @Shaz51 @Jynx and all cat lovers, my favourite Puss..in boots!

Re: The Sane Cattery: Because normal is overrated

@ENKELI Mr Murdermittens! love that! I used to have a persian called Mittens, but murdermittens would have suited him perfectly!

When Tiger wasn't eating when she was sick with the tick recently, I think I bought every treat, and delicious food, known to man. I got some of those cheese and catnip flavoured treats. She wasn't into it, but Casper was...you know when kittens growl when they eat? Well he did that- for the first time in his 9 yrs! So funny.

And yeah, she does go wild for pool toes- I guess that's her drug of choice! 🤣
