Something’s not right

Don’t want to accept the pain

Don’t want to accept the pain

Why can’t I pretend the pain isn’t real, maybe if I tell myself I’m okay and I don’t struggle with mental health I’ll be okay. Maybe if I tell myself that the traumatic memories aren’t real, then I can finally feel whole and less gross. Maybe I’ll just wake up from this dream soon and I’ll find peace within my mind when I do wake up. Maybe I’m okay, maybe there isn’t anything wrong with me

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@Jynx goal setting was part of the Guided Service when I was with it. I’ve started goal setting with my new psych. I am doing the homework, it’s good to get the thoughts written but it can also be overwhelming. Cognitive dissonance is uncomfortable. My mind is clouded right now, I can’t think straight. Too agitated right now. I feel the urge to do something, but I don’t know what. It’s like I need to destroy something or do something to myself to get it out. I’m safe

I did not sleep well. Currently experiencing depression and manic symptoms simultaneously. Having SI, I’m safe for now

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

My head feels heavy. Feel exhausted but so wired. My brain wants to ruminate

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

hey @creative_writer sounds like a rough night. poor sleep tends to make it easier for those unhealthy thoughts to slide in, hopefully you get a lil nap in today. has the uti and eye gotten any better?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@rav3n it’s hard to not ruminate when my thoughts are racing. Experiencing manic symptoms while depressed is difficult. It’s hard to sit with. It’s hard not to have SI. I feel guilty for having SI in Ramadan

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

i hear you @creative_writer and i'm sorry you feel the guilt weighing on you. having unhealthy thoughts does not reflect you as a whole.

how is Ramadan going for you so far? have you had a few moments where you felt spiritually connected, express gratitude or had a chance to reflect?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@rav3n I don’t want to be ungrateful. My mind feels so loud right now. I took PRN last night but still slept poorly and I’m still so agitated. I’m not even sure what to do. I could take another PRN, I just hate having to rely on medication, but there urges are so hard to sit with.

Ramadan has been good, I wanted to connect more spiritually but I’ve been finding it hard to concentrate. I guess at the end of the day we can only do what we can

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@creative_writer i can see there's a bit of mixed feeling and internal conflict over the PRN - at the end of the day, your safety is most important. so if taking PRN will keep you safe, please don't hesitate.

we all have different capacities, and you're doing your best with what you've got and that's what matters!

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@rav3n I have taken the PRN. My head is feeling really heavy now and I’m nauseous. It’s been a crazy day. I don’t think I have the energy to challenge thoughts, so they’re just coming. I get these automatic trauma thoughts, my mind is obsessing over what happened over and over again. Maybe I do need sleep, but I’m usually not a napper due to light sensitivity. I stopped napping regularly as a toddler. I am usually only able to nap when really tired.

It is true we all have different capacities, I wish my capacity was higher

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@creative_writer it's okay to let them pass through. sometimes i treat those thoughts like uninvited guests - their words have no value to me, and they come in and out, but they can't stay forever. even then, i can understand it's still draining to have those thoughts pass by so do take it easy tonight.

i wish my capacity was higher too. the good news is we CAN improve our capacity, but it can take a lot of time and patience. it won't always be like this, it won't always feel like this. things will get better, but it's probably hard to believe that right now. so i'll believe it on your behalf.
