Something’s not right

Don’t want to accept the pain

Don’t want to accept the pain

Why can’t I pretend the pain isn’t real, maybe if I tell myself I’m okay and I don’t struggle with mental health I’ll be okay. Maybe if I tell myself that the traumatic memories aren’t real, then I can finally feel whole and less gross. Maybe I’ll just wake up from this dream soon and I’ll find peace within my mind when I do wake up. Maybe I’m okay, maybe there isn’t anything wrong with me

If only I could shake my emotions off, but it doesn’t work that way

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

I’m scared the agitation is trying to make its way through again. I don’t want to have to rely on PRN, I don’t want to increase my meds again, I already did a few times last year. Surely there must be a way

@creative_writer hugs for you darlin, sorry that it's feeling like this!

You know I've actually been finding meditation really helpful lately, especially with stuff like restlessness and agitation. Been listening to this guy called Dr Joe Dispenza - there's a bundle of his guided meditations on Youtube if you're curious.

What are you up to this afternoon?

@JynxI don't know why I've been on edge, I am sort of wondering whether there is a connection between having and infection increasing emotional distress. Whenever I get sick, it's like my mental health gets worse.

I'll probably have dinner soon. Do you have plans for today?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

I don't have a source for this @creative_writer so take with a grain of salt but it does make sense with everything else I've ever read about the mind-body connection.

They told me that the FIRST symptom of being unwell is actually anxiety.

So I'd say that having an infection would definitely be increasing your emotional distress!

But that also means that doing stuff to support our bodies will also help our minds 😋 You know this ofc haha but sometimes it's a helpful reminder 😊

Ooh something tasty I hope! What are you up to this evening?

@Jynx I actually googled it. Bacteria infections might trigger manic symptoms (hence maybe why I feel agitated. But antibiotics may also affect bipolar. Sometimes you don't have a choice to not take antibiotics, abdomen pain has been frustrating. I certainly want to avoid getting surgery to remove the cyst on my bottom eyelid if possible.

I've had fish with salad and some leb bread. I am also feeling sort of useless.

I am not currently working and most jobs are full time. I don't know if I have the capacity to work full time. Part time options are limited. I do not feel productive during the day since I am not doing anything 😞

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

hey @creative_writer just wanted to pop in to say hi! and also read about the cyst and uti - so sorry to hear that!! my friend recently dealt with an uti and i could see how much of an impact it had on her mood and energy levels - so please do be kind to yourself - it's okay if you're not feeling super 'useful', rest is just as important too.

i've heard of cysts forming near the eye due to stress, dehydration and poor sleep - it happened to my mum and sister but the cyst was small and left over time - not sure if that's different to yours? hope you start to feel better soon 💜

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@rav3n UTI can hit hard, it is likely I've had it for a while but it went undetected. It did not even cross my mind. Might explain some of the symptoms I've been having. I was lucky to have a GP who chose to do a test.

I will admit, I am a stimmer and it isn't always good. I may have rubbed my eyes a bit too much. I had a cyst last year too in the same eye and it went away with antibiotics. I hope it goes away this time too

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@creative_writer useless! Naaaaah far from it. You are recovery-focused and in energy-conservation-mode after a long duration of rigorous study. The time you take to rest now WILL benefit both you and the people you eventually end up working with! Just because you're not immediately out there on the front line supporting people, doesn't mean what you're doing is unimportant!

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@Jynx I think people often overlook the importance of adjustment for those living with mental illness or neurodivergence. Sometimes it may mean adjustment in the hours we can work. I’m hoping suitable part time work does turn up. I’ve been applying widely, I’ve asked a friend in the industry, I might try reaching out to other people already in the field. It’s just that grad program are generally full time which is a shame. I’m looking at other option besides grad programs. A lot of job do require experience.

Maybe I’m out of my body. My body is starting to feel weird. And here I am, feeling numb and indifferent. I think I’ll take my night meds soon
