Something’s not right

Don’t want to accept the pain

Don’t want to accept the pain

Why can’t I pretend the pain isn’t real, maybe if I tell myself I’m okay and I don’t struggle with mental health I’ll be okay. Maybe if I tell myself that the traumatic memories aren’t real, then I can finally feel whole and less gross. Maybe I’ll just wake up from this dream soon and I’ll find peace within my mind when I do wake up. Maybe I’m okay, maybe there isn’t anything wrong with me

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@creative_writer if it's any consolation, 'the discomfort of inhabiting a body' is a frequent topic amongst my friends and I. You're definitely not alone in having all sorts of ooky and confusing feelings rocking around! I hope you're able to make sense of what you can, and accept and let go of the rest 😌

(Oh I like that lol...Saying that to myself too! Might write it down... Teehee oh look I helped myself along the way 😆)

I should probably say nighty night!! Hope your appt goes well tomorrow hun 🤞💜

@Jynx inhabiting a body can be challenging, trauma gets stored in the body. Even when you are not consciously aware of emotions, the emotions are buried within. Maybe I’ll be able to get more clarity with time.

I hope you’re able to rest up tonight 💖

And the flashback worsens but I am too numb, my body doesn’t feel like mine

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

Hey @creative_writer , that sounds so hard. I've never worked with regular flashbacks before, but is there a skill or strategy you can use to help you get through this?

@tyme grounding can help with disassociation. The thing is even though I am experiencing a flashback, I feel indifferent and unfazed. It’s like I’m in a dream. This dream like state is what is putting me off. My body doesn’t feel like my body, it feels like it belongs to someone else

Sometimes the numbness feels worse to be honest @creative_writer . Sorta like you don't know what to do with it..

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@tyme it’s like you’re here but not here. Everything feels like a dream or movie. It doesn’t feel real. If it doesn’t feel real, it won’t hurt. Without pain there is also no joy
