Something’s not right

Don’t want to accept the pain

Don’t want to accept the pain

Why can’t I pretend the pain isn’t real, maybe if I tell myself I’m okay and I don’t struggle with mental health I’ll be okay. Maybe if I tell myself that the traumatic memories aren’t real, then I can finally feel whole and less gross. Maybe I’ll just wake up from this dream soon and I’ll find peace within my mind when I do wake up. Maybe I’m okay, maybe there isn’t anything wrong with me

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

I feel anxious and maybe I want to ignore the reason why. If I tell myself the flashbacks aren’t happening, maybe they’ll go away and leave me for good

I keep getting migraines and nausea 😔

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

Since nobody knows what to do about my migraines, I’ll find a solution by myself using herbs

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

hey @creative_writer have you tried putting your feet in hot water (not boiling hot, but more than just 'warm')? i came across a video last year where people said their migraines instantly reduced BUT i don't know anyone who's tried it... thought i'd share in case you wanted to try it out... or maybe you have tried it?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@rav3n I haven’t tried the warm water or heard of it before. I think I’m going to try a few extra saffron strands in tea to see if that helps. Saffron is good for mood and attention. My mood, migraine intensity and attention span is not great. I have been advised to not go on stimulant medication because of the risks with bipolar, but I’m not functioning

well if you ever do try the hot water foot bath, please give me a review!! @creative_writer hope the extra saffron helps out.

ohh that's tough with the meds, are there other alternatives?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@rav3n I suppose herbs like saffron are the alternative. Not sure what else I can do. I also drink matcha. Or the other alternative is an unhealthy coping strategy (I can’t mention what it is without breaching community guidelines. Even if I used the unhealthy way, I would probably destroy my stomach over time. So I guess I just have matcha and saffron

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@creative_writer gosh that's tough, but despite the limited options, i'm really glad you're looking into the healthy options and trying your best. also not sure if you're aware of this (if you are, feel free to ignore!), matcha interferes with iron absorption especially if you drink it regularly - and low iron can further worsen symptoms like dizziness, poor mood and concentration levels, etc., so please do keep an eye on your iron levels too!

how's the migraines now, any better? do you have anything planned for this week?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

@rav3n I think the same thing can be said about coffee too to a certain level. I don’t drink tea until a bit after a meal to minimise it affecting nutrient absorption. I did have a blood test recently too, so I’ll wait and see what the GP says.

I had dinner and massaged my head, it’s a bit better after that. I seem to have scalp tenderness from the migraine, especially in one area. I have a few appointments this week, nothing much else planned as of yet. Do you have much planned this week?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain

true!! i only learnt last year how much coffee impacted cortisol levels if you had it on an empty stomach. sometimes it's hard making adjustments to habits that bring us comfort @creative_writer

that reminds me, i need to get my blood work done too! fingers crossed your results turn out okay and hope the appointments go well too. i've got my friend's birthday this week and i'm getting my nails done. my skin's been really bad this year so i've been avoidant with social outings... but this friend is practically like a sister to me so i can't miss it! i remember a while back you mentioned a social event to get you introduced to the community - did that end up happening?
