Why can’t I pretend the pain isn’t real, maybe if I tell myself I’m okay and I don’t struggle with mental health I’ll be okay. Maybe if I tell myself that the traumatic memories aren’t real, then I can finally feel whole and less gross. Maybe I’ll just wake up from this dream soon and I’ll find peace within my mind when I do wake up. Maybe I’m okay, maybe there isn’t anything wrong with me
@tyme at the end of the day, aren’t your parents the ones who are suppose to be your safe place to be vulnerable? The people who you live with are meant to be your biggest emotional supports since you spend more time with them than other people. Making friends is not the solution. I find it near impossible to make many friends, modern lifestyles are so hectic that unless you live very close by, it’s impossible to experience that deep connection with others

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain
Is there something wrong with me if I don’t have a safe person? I haven’t ever been able to find a safe psych. I have recently started seeing a new psych, but only time will tell if I’ll feel safe.
I don’t really care about having many people in my life, it would be good to have one safe person in my personal life. No safe person keeps me isolated

No? I wouldn't say something is 'wrong' with you @creative_writer
What's happening for you? I'm reading these thoughts are still quite pervasive and ongoing.
What does support on the forum look like for you?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain
@tyme it’s not that the forums don’t help. It’s a whole different level when you’re talking to someone face to face. I have to constantly mask in front of family. I have limited interaction outside my family, I only ever text friends, we don’t ever meet up or anything. Lifestyles are too hectic. Distances are too far. Text messages will naturally make you feel somewhat distant anyways. The forums are good, but it’s not adequate.
Maybe sometimes there isn’t a solution and you just have to get by what you have with limited resources

Hey @creative_writer ,
That's totally okay. Sorry if I wasn't very clear. I was meant to ask what you think would be helpful on the forums that we can provide to help you through this rough phase?
I was just wondering if there's anything else we can provide you.
I absolutely hear that it's different f2f.
Hugs

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain
@tyme I guess I was just feeling a bit lonely. Like I’ll put my stuff to the side so I can do things like applying for jobs, and routine stuff. But the emotions seem to surface eventually. Maybe my problem is I’m not getting the emotions out and the constant masking eventually takes a toil. Or maybe my medication effects start wearing off in the afternoon. I don’t know. I’m just tired of chronic pain from migraines and feeling shitty when the pain increases. It’s also frustrating how pain relief has side effects, I don’t even know what I can take and not experience side effects.
I don’t know if my mental health triggers migraines or my migraines triggers my mental health. Or maybe it’s both. Mood changes are a symptom of migraines too. Taking into consideration how the pain has been, I won’t be able to fast when Ramadan starts

Oh yeah! Ramadan starts shortly. I hope it all goes well for you.
Yeah, loneliness can be a bummer @creative_writer

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain
@tyme I know it’s okay to not fast if someone has a medical condition, but it is frustrating. My migraine pain gets worse with irregular meals, dehydration and caffeine withdrawal. Caffeine seems to give me pain and anxiety relief when consumed in moderation

What I've known others to do is 'give up' something else instead of food @creative_writer
Is this an option?

Re: Don’t want to accept the pain
@tyme fasting for us involves not drinking or eating anything for a specified time.
However, having said that, I can aim to reduce the time I waste every single day and fill it with prayer and other spiritual activities. I think many of us are guilty of unhelpful habits like doom scrolling
