Talking through trauma and PTSD

Running

Running

"Behind every strong person is a story that gave them no choice"

My life is all about a lack of choice.

I'm alive because death would've outed him, it would have sealed his fate in prison.

TW: cultic, rape, trafficking, torture

I'm the daughter of a Satanist...

One trained to breed...

One pregnant at 6 years old...

One prostituted to whoever could afford her...

The girl her dad didn't want...

One men hired to have fun with...

One men experimented with...

One who was tortured for speaking up...

One trained for the sole purpose to please her buyer...

Regardless of age...

Still though...

One who never stayed silent...

One who broke free... twice...

One who rose up...

One who seeks to prove them wrong...

One who has been running for 15 years...

One who just needs to feel heard...

One who went through hell and survived...

That this Phoenix can rise...

She will not be burned...

She's proven that...

I have proven that...

I'm 35 and 90% of those I've been in prolonged abusive situations insufficient evidence for prosecution

A system that protects the abuser more than the survivor

And yet I still try

I don't try for me, I try for the ones after me, the ones like me, that they will see their justice

But for now I run...

From a dad that wants me silenced...

From the nightmares that plague my sleep...

From the memories that invade my mind...

From the choices made for me...

Didn't expect that to come out as poetic as it did

@Jynx

They are now

Can you further explain Christofascism please? She did mention the current US issues

Re: Running

I was always taught as a child, love the sinner but not the sin @avant-garde . And this applies to everything. We cannot think we are better than anyone else....or we will just be like the pharisee looking down on the sinner.

@tyme

Honestly, it's hard knowing there are others like me who the hope of Christ could save.

I'm so thankful for the backyard missionary that inadvertantly saved my life and I can't help but be concerned for the people that fall through the cracks, only to then remember that God wouldn't let that happen

Re: Running

@avant-garde just from a Google search -

"Christofascism is a far-right ideology merging Christianity with fascism, coined by theologian Dorothee Sölle in 1970 to describe an authoritarian, nationalistic, and often violent interpretation of faith. It represents a theological distortion characterized by misogyny, capitalist spirituality, and strict, often violent, social control."

I think it's pretty complex, but like for example banning gay marriage, and discrimination against transgender people are both ways of controlling the population - by getting rid of anything that threatens the status quo, with the controlling of women and their wombs being a big part of it. To my knowledge, it is rooted in colonialism and white supremacy.

@Jynx

Oh gosh, parts of that sound like how I was raised, like my dad...

Not triggered just far too relatable and familiar

Re: Running

@avant-garde mm that doesn't surprise me, unfortunately. I think it is testament to you and your qualities that you have such a wonderful relationship to your faith, one that is your own rather than that which you grew up with.

How's your day been hun?

Re: Running

@Jynx

I did a little digging this morning, my dad is more aligned with "satanic fascism"

I had therapy, then group

I still feel quite sick and my stomach is tender, this often happens after therapy

Re: Running

Aye, therapy leaves me feeling pretty tender too, most of the time @avant-garde 💜

You got any post-therapy self-care rituals/activities? I like to go for a long walk, I find the gentle movement helps me process - and nature helps me feel more calm/grounded.

Re: Running

@Jynx

Group helps and then I go to a local store that has really good clearance (I got bananas today) and to home and curl up on my bed.

TW: abuse, violence

Content/trigger warning
Today was really hard though, it's hard not having a therapist who isn't well-versed in SRA, she suggested something that made me think "how could she think that I would ENJOY that!"

She suggested that since my brain uses pain as a familiar route to pleasure, kind of a shortcut, that I may appreciate or have a kink towards BDSM...

She is just as far off the mark as when she asked whether I'm sure I identify as female.

And next session I will tell her so.

Re: Running

I can see where she may have been coming from @avant-garde as it is a growing (but still pretty niche) area of MH recovery... but I also understand how it may have felt waaaay off the mark for you. I'm glad that you have the kind of relationship with your therapist where you do feel comfortable to call it out when you feel like something is misaligned 😊

Best of luck - and enjoy your bananas!! Hehe 💜
