Talking through trauma and PTSD

Running

Running

"Behind every strong person is a story that gave them no choice"

My life is all about a lack of choice.

I'm alive because death would've outed him, it would have sealed his fate in prison.

TW: cultic, rape, trafficking, torture

I'm the daughter of a Satanist...

One trained to breed...

One pregnant at 6 years old...

One prostituted to whoever could afford her...

The girl her dad didn't want...

One men hired to have fun with...

One men experimented with...

One who was tortured for speaking up...

One trained for the sole purpose to please her buyer...

Regardless of age...

Still though...

One who never stayed silent...

One who broke free... twice...

One who rose up...

One who seeks to prove them wrong...

One who has been running for 15 years...

One who just needs to feel heard...

One who went through hell and survived...

That this Phoenix can rise...

She will not be burned...

She's proven that...

I have proven that...

I'm 35 and 90% of those I've been in prolonged abusive situations insufficient evidence for prosecution

A system that protects the abuser more than the survivor

And yet I still try

I don't try for me, I try for the ones after me, the ones like me, that they will see their justice

But for now I run...

From a dad that wants me silenced...

From the nightmares that plague my sleep...

From the memories that invade my mind...

From the choices made for me...

Didn't expect that to come out as poetic as it did

@MissGremlin

I completely crashed, it felt good to see my friends again, although my colleague won't be there for a couple of weeks yet I learned.

I got lemon and white chocolate biscuits from the gift store in a really pretty tin

Re: Running

@avant-garde I'm not surprised you crashed it after being away. I'm so glad you got to see your friends sweet.

Oohhh those biscuits sound yummy and bonus that they came in a pretty tin ☺️

@AuntGlow

I feel sick, like my emotions are causing a physical sensation

Re: Running

Gah, I know this feeling all too well... before we explore the 'why', can we look at what you might be needing? For example, what has your day looked like? Have you been able to eat/rest at all? @avant-garde 💛

Re: Running

@AuntGlow

I saw my current case manager for the last time as it's her last week at the organisation.

We touched on the topic of my rehab experience because that's where my souvenir collection started, what they did to me and made me do...

Then I stopped in a few op shops and did grocery shopping.

I think it was talking about rehab because the feeling just got worse when I mentioned it.

Re: Running

This makes so much sense. It's hard when even the mention of something can send our nervous system into a frenzy... but it is understandable that you would have had such a big reaction to such a painful memory. Not to mention, I can it would be hard to end this familiar, supportive connection too. How is it all sitting with you? @avant-garde

Also, what is one thing you could do that might be soothing tonight? 💛

@AuntGlow

I feel all tense and on edge, like I want to crawl out of my skin if that makes sense.

I've been fixing things and have this pretty potpourri pot that I just put marbles in because of my sensitivity to fragrances.

It can be a mindfulness object now

Re: Running

I feel like this when my OCD brain is really loud! Something that helps me to reset is a warm shower - would that feel safe for you to explore? @avant-garde

Oh, that is sooo pretty. Did you thrift it today?

Also, I am leaving at 10, but I will get back to you on Thursday! Please take care of yourself and know that your feelings are and always have been real and valid. 🫶

Cold shower yes

The marbles I got today, the pot I've had for about a month

This is so, so true. I was reading this meme/post the other day that was talking about overuse of the word 'resilient' in mental health spaces. They used a metaphor of a tree that had grown up around like an old fence post or abandoned bike or whatever - and how people would marvel at it, saying the tree was so resilient to keep on growing. But that no one thinks about how maybe the tree would really have preferred not to have to do all that extra work to grow around this piece of metal stuck in its trunk...

PS love your marble pot hehe I do similar with vases and polyhedral dice! 😋
