Talking through trauma and PTSD

Running

Running

"Behind every strong person is a story that gave them no choice"

My life is all about a lack of choice.

I'm alive because death would've outed him, it would have sealed his fate in prison.

TW: cultic, rape, trafficking, torture

I'm the daughter of a Satanist...

One trained to breed...

One pregnant at 6 years old...

One prostituted to whoever could afford her...

The girl her dad didn't want...

One men hired to have fun with...

One men experimented with...

One who was tortured for speaking up...

One trained for the sole purpose to please her buyer...

Regardless of age...

Still though...

One who never stayed silent...

One who broke free... twice...

One who rose up...

One who seeks to prove them wrong...

One who has been running for 15 years...

One who just needs to feel heard...

One who went through hell and survived...

That this Phoenix can rise...

She will not be burned...

She's proven that...

I have proven that...

I'm 35 and 90% of those I've been in prolonged abusive situations insufficient evidence for prosecution

A system that protects the abuser more than the survivor

And yet I still try

I don't try for me, I try for the ones after me, the ones like me, that they will see their justice

But for now I run...

From a dad that wants me silenced...

From the nightmares that plague my sleep...

From the memories that invade my mind...

From the choices made for me...

Didn't expect that to come out as poetic as it did

@Jynx

No, not at all... it was how cold the email was... you've asked me before for my opinion on the templates... it was that... it's what makes me scared to even mention it...

Re: Running

@avant-garde I can understand your feelings hun, and like, we are always refining our processes - so we are totally open to suggestions! If the email feels cold, do you have any thoughts on what would make it a more pleasant experience for you? Feel free to write up a draft even!

It would just need to include:

1) the guideline breached

2) opportunity to rephrase

3) copy of the original post

4) suggestions if needed

Totally up to you of course, but where possible we do want to empower our members to help us shape this space - and its associated processes - to be what the members want and need 💜

I guess anything that says "we know that posting can take an incredible amount of bravery and strength and while we don't want to discourage you posting..."

I'll bring it up with the team @avant-garde - and please feel free to tag or email if you have any more ideas 😊

Appreciate your honesty and openness hun. I hope that tomorrow is a lighter/easier day for you. I am skedaddling soon, but I shall leave you with some hugs. Catch you next time 💜

Re: Running

hey @avant-garde 😊

sure! i've read the post, how are you feeling about it?

Re: Running

@rav3n

I'm quite angry, a lot of the meeting yesterday was talking about my lack of humility and how I let my pride get in the way of letting others in and letting them help me...

I know it's a wrong view of trauma but I'm angry that she doesn't know that, that I'm not a proud person.

Re: Running

it's hard when people make assumptions, i get the feeling she would've responded different had she known your history and thought processes @avant-garde it's understandable that you'd be angry, i'd be frustrated if someone assumed something about me too.

outta curiousity, what made her share this with you? did something happen for her to bring up the humility topic?

Re: Running

@rav3n

She does know my history and thought processes, she just doesn't see how a fear motivation and pride motivation are different things.

Yeah, partly my behaviour at church... that I don't ask for or accept help easily... and that it took me so long to say something about her behaviour...

Re: Running

oh 😔 i guess i was wrong about her. @avant-garde i do think her choice of words weren't the best, and i can see how invalidating it would've been for you to hear.

sounds like her intentions were perhaps to encourage you to accept/ask for help more, but it came across as her assuming you're prideful? does that sound right? (pls feel free to correct me)
