Coin Collectors' Corner

Coin Collectors' Corner

Hey Everyone!

I thought I'd open this space up to talk all things coins!

I've noticed that we have a few interested coin collectors.

@Mustang67 @Harmonium @Shaz51 @Snowie Feel free to tag anyone.

I'm a bit gutted that I missed out on the Bluey coin collection. I was waiting eagerly for it 😞

Re: Coin Collectors' Corner

@Cuddlebear How are you going today? Yes, I love the Coloured Flower Coins. I really wanted to buy the book that completes the set and tells you information about all the different flowers on the coins and what other plants they can be planted nearby. I don't have a garden as I live in a caravan park, but I was going to plant them in small pots. But thinking about it, I really don't have anywhere to put them anyway. Lol

Re: Coin Collectors' Corner

@Chasingsunsets I am sorry to tell you, but the folders that you put your coins into, are not actually good for the coin, if you want to keep the coin in its best condition. As it is not sealed away from the environment and air.

I currently put my coins in a 2 x 2 Self Adhesive Cardboard Coin Flip Mylar Coin Holder. Which I have found can cause issues years down the track, with the glue losing its stick. I remember reading a post, where a person grabbed a coin flip and the coin fell out because the glue didn't stick any longer, and his mint coin got scratched as it landed on the floor. You can buy the normal coin flips and staple them. But you need to be careful if you are using the stapling method and you are storing your coins in a storage box, one behind the other, as the back of the staples can scratch the coin that is behind it. Most collectors that use the staples push the back of the staple flat before storing

The Coin Flips can then be stored in a Coin Safe folder with coin safe plastic sleeves. You cannot buy the cheap stuff from Temu etc, as their products have PVC in the plastic and this damages the coins. So everything you use for coin storage must be archival standard without the harmful chemicals that some products are made of. So, it pays to research what you are buying thoroughly. This is how I currently store my decimal coins. But because of the adhesive issue, I am contemplating of changing my whole collection to SAFlips. Here is a link to the post I sent Tyme regarding them. Post on SAFlips

You Can also store the Coin flips in a container like this. I have one, where I put any coins that I have multiple off, so I can sell them at a later stage.

Then you have the option to store your coins in capsules, either square or round. And there are plenty of options to storing the capsules.

Here is a link to a place that sell only safe coin accessories and they have great advice about storing your coins. SAFE Collecting Supplies

I hope this all makes sense, and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Re: Coin Collectors' Corner

@PeppyPatti I am sorry to hear that you were an emotional mess yesterday. I hope today has been a better one for you. Sending you hugs 🤗🤗🤗

I can go without an attack for a month or so, then all of a sudden, I will have 2 attacks within 3 days like I did last week. I saw my surgeon on the 18th September and he put me on a 90 day waiting list. So I should only have 1½ months to wait. But they will be doing 3 different procedures while they are there.

How long did you have to rest and take it easy after you had your procedure done? Have you had any further issues, after the gallbladder removal?

Re: Coin Collectors' Corner

@PeppyPatti it is great to hear that you have the mindset to be responsible for your mental health. That is not something that usually crosses my mind. But in saying that a few years ago I decided to remove anybody from my life that caused me negative feelings, or who weren't supportive. I felt so much better for it.

I am having issues with my medication at the moment, so I think that is why I am not very good at self-care at the moment. I was on a great antidepressant that made me feel the best I have felt in 23 years, and then the company discontinued them. So I have been trying different generic brands, but they just aren't working. When i see my doctor next, she is going to refer me to a psychiatrist to have my medication looked at again.

And I am glad that you are learning to relax, that will help your body and mind. Well done.

Re: Coin Collectors' Corner

@Appleblossom yes there are a lot of mentally damaged people out there because of wars. And I can totally understand why.

I struggle with ANZAC day, as my previous partner that passed away was in the Royal Australian Airforce. I had always wanted to go to a sunrise memorial on ANZAC Day, which I did about 6 years ago. Worst mistake i ever made, as of course there were defense force members there, and all it did was make me relive his passing. I won't be attending one of those again.

I hope that Remembrance Day doesn't cause you any issues.

@Bunniekins I have a thing for butterflies. You probably haven't seen my beautiful butterfly coin that I broke the bank to pay for it, but I just had to have it, Lol It even has a diamond at the tip of the wings.
