needing to justify oneself

needing to justify oneself

Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone else has issues with constantly justify yourself for decisions made.

I find it hard most of the time to answer questions with a simple yes/ no if I have made decisions - its always "yes because ............." .

I need to learn that I dont have to justify myself in my decisions as I'm an adult but it has become knee jerk reaction.

Thanks

Exactly @Former-Member. That's why I said and did nothing except leave room briefly when had to etc. Didn't help my cause tho. Its all pre ordained/set in concrete now. Won't say where I just wished their next holiday was 😸 Thinks its warm there tho. Their problem. Not mine.

Hi @Change123

Bit confused!!!! LOL

I find it really difficult to not justfy myself to others. It's like I don't trust my decisions or answer so therefore I have to justify my answer. Or I never agree with my decision confidentally. always putting a negative spin on my answer. For eg. Yes i will do this BUT i think you might be right; or no I agree with you and then don't give my answer.

Gosh this is so hard.

OK, so maybe if I just look at like just answer the question or whatever it is and DO NOT justify my answer.

This is yet again retraining my brain/mind to do something that is so out of my character/behaviour.

So can you pls help me with more advice. 🙂

Hi @BlueBay@TAB@Former-Member@Former-Member@Former-Member

Hi Bluebay there is a link in this thread that helps explain this more and gives you excercises to do.

But it seems to be based on boundaries in the aspect of if we do not have strong boundaries we constantly overstep them and that can also be not being confident in our decisions or feeling that we need to explain ourselves when really there is no need.

This is going to be hard for me too, its all knee jerk reaction with me as I constantly justify. Saying yes no answers is going to be REALLY HARD as it feels wrong, I also feel for some reason that I'm being impolite if I dont explain but I'm going to incorporate this into my strategies.

In this post I have the compelling urge to explain myself more but I'm fighting it and wont do it. Yes this is going to be difficult!

At the risk of muddying waters even further @Change123 it's fear of being shot down, second guessing statements/replies ok to hat may have been mentioned. Will shutup now lol😬
