Morning appointment with psych was really tough. She stopped desensitization after about ten minutes because I was too distressed Did have a minor breakthrough - we both realised that I can relax more when listening to relaxation music without commentary or words - haven't been able to relax like that before - nearly fell asleep!

Did feel sick and had a massive headache for the rest of the day.

Saw GPin the afternoon and as usual came out more positive and with a bit of life in me - she's an absolute angel.

Hoping for you it is nothing serious. Easy for me to say don't stress until you find out - know that is difficult, know I would think the worst even if my head said there was nothing to worry about. xxx

@Zoe7

When I was in a clinic many many many years ago, it was almost 20 years ago. The therapist said to me that I needed to work through my pain etc. I think for me to work through that I needed to do that physically and I struggle because of my depression (today that is).

I remember when I was on placement doing teaching prac, I really didn't like how some teachers would single out students- But you still see the same type of mentality with adults and how they need to compete with each other. And also single out other adults. Its not something that sits well with me.

I surfed from when I was 4 years old and in my later teen years I would surf all day and I was happy doing this and that is my goal to get back into my surfing.

I am really tired and I think its time for bed for me. I am not thinking straight. Goodnight sis

Re: Supporting a friend with terminal illness

Hi lil sis @Former-Member

I don't understand the need for people to compete with each other or to use their supposed authority to feel more powerful or important. It's also more important to me (as with you) who the person is and how they treat me.

A vice principal once exclaimed that all children should respect adults - that made me very angry - and I thought she was very narrow-minded. My comments back were 'show respect to receive it in return - whether it be adults or children' and 'how can you say that when so many of our kids are in situations that their family is the cause of so much of their pain and inappropriate behaviour - do you think those parents should be respected for what they are doing to their kids?' She couldn't answer back to that one.

I really hope you can get back into surfing - do what you love!

In regards to working through your pain - you are the only one who can truly know how to deal with YOU! If you believe that you can work through it physically and it is working for you then keep going with that. If you need a little outside help (therapy, talking, meds etc) that is ok too. Depression certainly takes both a mental and physical toll on the body (as does not sleeping) and it becomes more difficult to do the things physically that make you feel better. You seem to have a much better grip on this than me - but I know my body has a long way to go to regain all the strength I lost post virus also (have lost nearly 10kgs over las 4 months and muscles are extremely weak from not being able to move for so long when I was initially really ill).

I am about to go offline for a while - didn't sleep last night and was not feeling really good - going to try and get to the beach (if I'm not too tired to drive) and see if that helps sort out my head. I'm ok - just need to block out the rest of the world for awhile. Hope you got some sleep yourself and are having a nice relaxing day at home - just chillin' Will catch up with you later.

Kisses to Kira

Re: Supporting a friend with terminal illness

Hi sis @Zoe7

Good to hear from you

I hope you have been able to get some sleep and feeling a bit better this evening. I had a good day, I was able to get out and do some shopping- I purchased nice pair of cargo shorts and lovely pink shirt and some candles. I am trying to be good with my purchases and will leave my shopping now until I go to Hawaii in July.

I've just feed Miss Kira- I cooked her some chicken and mashed sweet potato and I'll give her something else to eat around 9pm. I also mowed the lawn this afternoon, and that looks nice. I think tomorrow I have to put my forms into hospital and get things sorted for Friday.

I am going focus my attention on the good things in my life and just getting fit and healthy for my trip in July. I want to have a good time away.

How was your day sis?

Re: Supporting a friend with terminal illness

Evening lil sis @Former-Member

Sounds like you have had a great day

Still jealous about Hawaii - and still saving - only have a few dollars so far but that's s start - will imagine I am there with you! Wish I was there now.

You have one spoiled little baby - makes me look like a bad mummy feeding canned food and biscuits!

My front lawn needs mowing but is upposed to rain on and off for the next few days so can't see that happening - might just wait until it grows long enough to cover the house then I won't need an excuse to stay inside. The backyard doesn't need mowing yet but might after some rain and warm days -grows really fast then.

What time do you go in Friday?

I really want you to have a good trip away also. You deserve some good times and a life of happiness

I haven't had a good day - only up now because Toby woke up and wanted to go out. Did want to check in and see how your day was and makes me happier that it has been good and you are thinking so positively.

Luv ya lil sis

Re: Supporting a friend with terminal illness

Hi ya sis @Zoe7

Thanks for your message

It was a great day.

I have 198 days to go to Hawaii

I am planning on some activities in Hawaii too- horseriding and quad biking

Its been a long time since I did the front yard not so much the backyard. I'll be doing the backyard tomorrow. Plus I have orgainized a walk & coffee with a friend tomorrow.

I also got the hospital forms to hand in and shopping to do tomorrow and print off my dreamworld yearly pass- and hopefully go to dreamworld soon perhaps next week.

I am hoping tomorrow is better for you. Have you made any decision about work? Just suggestion seeing exercise physiologist re your physical & mental health- it might help you get some stamina back and also help with your PTSD-you can get this through your GP and that way you can claim it on medicare, I think it would help you.

Another think that might help, I know being a teacher you are usually orgainized - is to write a list each day, it might help with some structure. Sorry just tring to help, these thing helped me and I was hoping it would help you too.

Just remember to have some fun

Re: Supporting a friend with terminal illness

@Former-Member They are all good suggestions sis. Glad you are getting out tomorrow and have company. Where are you going to walk? There's a great walking track above the beach I go to - think I've told you that though. Sorry - not really with it today

I went to Dreamworld along time ago when I was in Queensland for a holiday - but that's a story for another time.

Did take Toby to the beach for a while today - had to get out of the house. Stayed for about an hour and a half. He had a run around and some fun with the other dogs then sat next to me while I read for a while. It was a bit too windy to stay any longer and I was starting to feel unwell. Think I'm getting a cold - still achey, sore throat, swollen glands, sneezing and slight fever. Sh*t happens hey! Think that has not helped in my low mood and not being able to deal very well with triggers today.

Re: Supporting a friend with terminal illness

@Zoe7. It should be another great day tomorrow- we heading to a lake near Dreamworld (Oxenford)- it takes about to 40 to 45mins to do the loop and will probably do 2 loops tomorrow. I like to do this walk at least once a week.

I am glad you got to the beach today with Mr Toby (give him a kiss from us). I think you have told me about your beach- is it a surf beach? Its all good, I forget things too sis.

You still sound really unwell and I hope your physical health and mental health starts to improve. Has your GP given you any suggestions to how to look after yourself?

You will have to tell me about your holiday to the Gold Coast one day, I love stories.

In a little while, I will be heading off to bed, I have to be up early tomorrow morning and I have heaps to get through tomorrow. It wouldn't be so bad if I was able to sleep through the night.

Re: Supporting a friend with terminal illness

Sounds like a great walk to do

Toby been kissed from you both @Former-Member and an extra one from me - give Kira one from us and a huge hug too (and one for yourself)

The dog beach is much stiller than the other end. That's more of a surf beach but not very big waves - good for beginners (and people like me with no surfing skills at all). I prefer the dog beach - quiet at the far end, plenty of large rocks to climb and sit on to watch the world go by. Toby climbs up with me but I often have to carry him back down!

I just think the last few days have been too much. GP did advise not to do too much at one time and slowly increase what I can. 2-3 hours at most at a time. Over the last week I have probably doubled that nearly every day. Just too much and my body hasn't coped.

I really hope you can sort out your sleeping problems and that this Friday finds some answers to help you.

Tell you about Gold Coast holiday another time - have a great day tomorrow. Tell me all about it tomorrow night. I have my psych appointment Thursday so probably will be up for a little while tomorrow night - depending how feel.
