@Former-Member

Morning appointment with psych was really tough. She stopped desensitization after about ten minutes because I was too distressed Did have a minor breakthrough - we both realised that I can relax more when listening to relaxation music without commentary or words - haven't been able to relax like that before - nearly fell asleep!

Did feel sick and had a massive headache for the rest of the day.

Saw GPin the afternoon and as usual came out more positive and with a bit of life in me - she's an absolute angel.

Hoping for you it is nothing serious. Easy for me to say don't stress until you find out - know that is difficult, know I would think the worst even if my head said there was nothing to worry about. xxx

Re: Supporting a friend with terminal illness

@Zoe7 I am glad you had a lovely lunch for your mum's birthday. Its a pity you were so tired today but you were probably from yesterday and still not 100% well either.

Some highlights of the day was really seeing the Joeys, they are so cute and I love watching them. I spend my first in the land of the parriots. So many beautiful and colourful birds in there.

The dinner with my parents was lovely and I got to spend about two hours with them so that was nice.

@Former-Member That sounds so lovely lil sis. Little joeys jumping around, not a care in the world, just loving life. Then the beautiful colours and freedomof the parrots - what a lovely way to spend the afternoon.

So glad you had some real quality time with your parents What did you have for dinner?

Re: Supporting a friend with terminal illness

@Zoe7 It was lovely to spend some time with my parents but by that stage I was started to feel a bit tired myself. I left my parents around 7ish I guess I couldn't stay any longer, it is 45 min drive home, and I needed to feed my baby. We had takeaway chinese and cheesecake for dessert. It was yum!

I am having a relaxing day tomorrow at home and I have no real plans for the day. What did you have for lunch today?

@Former-Member

Had thai fish cakes and waffle chips for entree - which we shared. They were really nice.

Salmon for main but didn't like it - didn't like the way it was cooked or the sauces with it - couldn't eat much - tried but really didn't like it. Others finished it off and gave me a bit of theirs. Wish I'd had Chinese!!

I'm staying home tomorrow too. really feeling the exhaustion - can't even move properly. Ache everywhere - today sitting in the restaurant (chairs really unconfortable) didn't help.

I sound like I'm whinging about lunch - it was a nice lunch with family but in any other circumstance I wouldn't have gone - really wasn't up to it - but was Mum's birthday!

Hoping tomorrow is a nicer day weather wise though so I can spend a little time at the beach and chill out myself. Sitting in the water for a while should help relax my aching body - won't be able to swim - that would be pushing it too far! Also need to go to stop my head getting out of control!

@Zoe7

Just listen to your body sis and do what you need to do to feel better. I am really struggling with sleep atm and I understand you not wanting to get too wound up. I tend to ruminate over things too but I am learning to let things go.

Love ya sis

Hey sis @Former-Member - jumped over here to ask this question - how did your sleeping problem start?

In response to: Re: Supporting a friend with terminal illness

Re: Supporting a friend with terminal illness

Hi Sis @Zoe7

Mine is trauma related.

My sleep did get worse in 2012 after taking medication for sleep.

Prior to that I only had problem failing off to sleep and after taking medication I now struggle waking up during the night too.

But maybe also to do with age as well.

I think some of it is psychological, and that is probably trauma aspect, and not feeling safe. In the past if I had someone I trusted staying with me or if I to spoke someone on the phone I trusted I tended to sleep better, and that has happen for me many times

Hope this makes sense

And now I am trying to create that safe place in my bedroom and feeling so that I can mimic it and try for the same positive side effect.

Re: Supporting a friend with terminal illness

@Former-Member That does make sense sis.

Are you able to talk about the trauma and why you haven't felt safe or is that not comfortable? All ears (or eyes) either way

Re: Supporting a friend with terminal illness

I don't think its one thing @Zoe7 sis

I think the reason I don't feel safe is because I feel like I don't fit in and therefore I don't feel safe. The tramua aspect is quite complex and I think its around some fears that I have. I just try not to think about it and lock it away so that I can function.

Are you getting sleepy?

Nope @Former-Member also wide awake- sometimes they work sometimes they don't.

I'm here and I'm listening. Tell me whatever you can

Why don't you feel like you fit in?
