Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Hi @Anony18

How are you this morning? I did manage to doze off after our chat, thanks for that. Didn't even hear bub which is unusual, my darling got up to him for a change.

Hey @Determined, I get information through 'psychiatric times' and there was an article in integrative psychiatry. Have you heard of this?

They didn't say I got it and trying tell myself not get my hopes up to only gave it crashing down but it's proving difficult 😔

When do you find out about the job @Anony18, getting police checks seems to indicate at the very least on a short list. Fingers crossed for you and all the best.

Recon i got an hour or two sleep after talking to you, not much more than that. Going to be a long day. Have a group assesment meeting this ave 1 until 7pm.

In my interview they said they get back to me by next week or even week after. So was surprise they spoke to me yesterday. I tried get it out of them by asking once get a police clearance what next. Nothing divulged. Think doesn't help I read an email with my interview details that said I be expected get a certificate if I was successful for the role.

Oh that sounds like a long day! Good luck!!!

Hey @Cath22
In this thread most of us care for our partners who have MI.

My husband attempted suicide; I still find it hard to articulate the desolation and the loneliness of the grief that followed.

Getting support to see us through the dark times is really important. Have you been able to get any help yourself?

Here with a shoulder and large box of tissues ...

Darcy

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Thanks so much @Former-Member and @Faith-and-Hope,

This may sound stupid but I am not sure what help I need or can get! I think in the initial stages after my husband's suicide attempt (January) everything was so focussed on him and the immediate issues and it is only now as time drags on and he is still struggling that I realise I am running out of energy. Being unable to talk to him about any of it is the hardest I guess - especially the fear that things are never going to improve. you are right about the loneliness. Easy to stay busy - harder to stay positive!

Any tips on what you guys do to help yourselves would be very much appreciated!

Cath
