Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Happy birthday @Rose96, trust you have a lovely day tomorrow.
Thank you for your kind words, yes it is good to be able to discuss our worries here, I still feel bad for dumping on everyone though. Love my darling and am so thankful that our family is still together even if it us hard some days .

Thanks @Former-Member 💕

So many thoughts and all emotions have just rushed through. Playing moments from when we last spoke to now. Thinking if anything I said or done that could indicate why he is behaving this way - Nothing I can think of. Thinking of past him even when he was low which concludes he is acting more out of ordinary leading me to panic something is wrong....really wrong. Worrying about what future me may have to do, forcing him to see me and talk to me, which I hope and pray doesn't come to that.

How has your night been anyway?

Only if you are comfortable telling me can I ask what your partners diagnosis is @Anony18 as that might help me understand a bit better.

Happy to share @Former-Member

He has anxiety, mainly social anxiety and mid last year he said he felt he had depression so he went see someone about it. Don't think his MI is helped by his family. Since his dad passed away 4.5 yrs suddenly he is main carer for his family. His younger brother gave a lot of problems - has PTSD and depression. His mum undiagnosed depression he believes and she has skin cancer but not the serious kind so he takes her hospital and I am aware has health issues like weight etc that he does everything around the house. From the sounds of it. In addition since grandma passed away a year ago he been dealing with sorting the will and his extended family has not been playing nice. So a whole lot of added stress.

My partner doesn't talk to me much about his MI. He is quite hush about it, think really embarrassed. I do ask if he is ok and if things at home are ok. I know his home life is what impacts him the most.

First thing to establish is your partners safety.
If it is possible to check if he has been in touch with family or has a definite return date in mind.

Sadly, men as much as they dearly would like to have a relationship, blokes with mental illnesses often go not know how to interact with women in the usual way. I know I have had to change the way I interact with my man. In the absence of him saying anything to the contrary you have probably done nothing wrong.
