Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Heading from 8 to 9 years @soul .......

I have been given two conflicting advices ..... that it is unsustainable and he will suffer a health crisis ...... and the other one is that he has a fairly balanced system going in terms of physical management of his condition, so it could go on for a very long time like that.

Limbo.

If the kids can get straightened up and begin to function normally we can just go around mr. for the most part ..... just accept perhaps that we have lost him in terms of who he used to be, and just work with the eccentric personality he has become

Trouble is, his dysfunction is causing dysfunction in others, particularly as there appears to be a genetic personality based link that has been triggered in these two kids under our wonky circumstances.

D3 started with a psych today. S2 is in the process of landing a new one here. Hopefully that will help, and provide support for me peripherally .....

You really are in the thick of things then @Faith-and-Hope. Glad you can get some reprieve now and then. Necessary for your survival but hard all the same.

Yeah.

We will get there ..... wherever “there” is ......

It has helped to vent a bit. Thanks for letting me burn your ears a little .....

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Both my parent had MI @Shaz51 But never formally diagnosed.

Mum has a severe anxiety disorder, which has controlled & affected everyone around her (for decades).

Dad possibly had Aspergers syndrome, identified, yet not formally diagnosed.

Both of them were severe hoarders, which is definitely recognised as a sign of MI.

The hoarding alone (without any other factors) made the family home unlivable, & continued throughout their lives (& mine).

Vent away @Faith-and-Hope

I understand how therapeutic that can be. Certinally better than bottling it all up.

Hi @Shaz51 I just had a look back at the start of this thread - to see what the original questions were (theme, etc).

So that's what my post was in response to.

@Hillsy
I will tag you in a decluttering thread - it's on the lived experience side - I don't venture over that side too often - think I stumbled across it when I hit the wrong button on my phone app.
