My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Yes @Former-Member ...... perfectionism is the basis for the personality disorder that has been raised here ...... things are often not done well as a result, or some things are run off the rails because the perfectionism is driving single aspects and the global understanding is lost ......

I don't know if it will help you, but I have had family member who have undergone knee replacements, and the current advice is to get them up and going on their feet as soon as they are out of anaesthetic. I was shocked to see that that had moved from Day 1 to immediately they are awake in the course of three years ...... and what would have been Day 5 exercises were landing in Day 1. Apparently driving hard is producing better results, although my perception was that it would be detrimental tonfonsomhard, so soon. A question for Mr D's Physio perhaps ? Just giving you a heads up .......

Yes, hoping it all settles well for both of you @Former-Member ......

How are things for you this morning @Determined ? Has everyone recovered from yesterday's events ?

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

I would not say recovered @Faith-and-Hope but we are all pretending nothing happened. I am feeling deflated little interest in leaving my room. Will have to make an effort shortly as S2 is wanting to spend time with me.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hearing you @Determined ...... that has happened as a coping mechanism for us for a long time now, and it's hard. Things were unsettled here last night, but without being able to resolve the underlying issues, we get up this morning and simply carry on .....

@Determined & @Faith-and-Hope

Feel so much for you both in the relationship dept. It is so very hard living with MI.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

I imagine it is the same with hips @Former-Member, that they have now got them up and racing from Day 0, in case that is what is happening and it’s causing you concern. It used to be that people were eased back into the weight bearing activities, which was what had me shocked ...... seeing these relatives thrown into the deep end immediately .....
