Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hey @Shaz51

Has been a super stressful time, after 6 years of worsening mental health and 3 in crisis which included multiple fractures from one of his suicide attempts and many different diagnoses, I find our this week that a former GP had documented his current diagnosis hypothesis back in 2011 on the cusp of an interstate move; Cannot say if Mr Darcy ever knew or understood diagnosis as hypo at the time. He cannot tell us as he has memory loss from ECT and has no memory of our move. I don't know what steps the treating team took to elicit history as I was not his carer at the time.

I became his carer not long before his traumatic attempt when I could see he couldn't do it on his own.

If diagnosis is right it means he had years of incorrect treatment which highly likely would have contributed to his deterioration.

Sorry, I cannot celebrate anything at the minute. Need time to process this new information, will seek clarification as to whether this diagnosis was known, considered and/or ruled out early on from clinical director when I see him Tuesday week. Mr Darcy has proven diagnostically difficult and there is considerable disagreement within the clinical team as to his diagnosis. Irrespective, nothing will change what has happened. I will have to find a way to come to peace with the situation but at present my heart is breaking.

Darcy

Hello @Anony18

we had 2 cleaning jobs today , my sister and brother in law came to visit this afternoon

a best friend of mine ( I thought we were drifting apart over the years ) heard I was coming down with the flu , soo she had made 7 containers of Beef soup for us this afternoon -- I could not believe it

but I felt soo blessed but soo sad because I thought our friendship was over , I used to look after her 3 boys when they were little

Hi @Former-Member xxx, after reading your post i thinkin of my partner lets just call him Thor coz thats his fave avengers..as ive mentioned before he is currently detained in the mental ward and cannot go out no phones etc..my only means to communicate with him is thru his mom..as im not in australia right now. He was allowed to go out today for 2 hrs with his mom's supervisions..i've no news as to what happen today coz i dont want to keep asking his mom what happen as she is always bz..but last time i asked if theres any findings during his stay there..well apparently they didnt make much test , no theraphy ..its like they put him there and the place is not that good either coz lets just say Thor is the most normal of all..they took blood urine stool samples but still no findings ..i asked his mom is there high cholesterol etc..etc..the nurses just say the attending physician will tell u..how frustrating!! I dont know whats happening im counting the days till my flight to australia..3 more days to go..im worried if the immigration will question my 3mos stay and a week stay in my home country..i know what im doing right now is a big risk on my part ..im spending air ticket , home budget etc..just to see him..sometimes im thinking did he really love me or he just wants me coz im always there for him when everybody walks out..most of the time he said the most nastiest words like "you are the most disgusting woman i've met u stay with me just to have partner visa well you cant have it go find another aussie fool who will fall for your scheme" ..then the next day he will say sorry he didnt mean that and he wants to marry me..sometimes it makes me wonder if its his illmess whos talking or its what he reaĺly thinks of me..coz honestly as much as i love him if he doesnt love me and only use me to have someone to take care of him..il feel crushed..im not interested in partner visa if i wont have him as my partner for life...

Thanks for your kind thoughts, I know that even though our circumstances are different we all face significant challenges. We see at times things could have been different ... assuming better, but we know in life, let alone life with mental illness is rarely smooth sailing.

For those who find comfort in Christian faith, this is a song that has helped me in recent times.

Hey @Shaz51
What a soup-a friend you have, hope the friendship rekindles. Mr Darcy did some mowing today, need to get some more oil before he seizes the motor (happened previously to a brand new lawn mower we had only owned for a few weeks).

@Faith-and-Hope
Are you working on a particular project at the minute? Trust you're doing OK.

@Determined
Hope you have a good weekend with your darling and the young ones. If you want a day out and are not sure where to go, you may know of it already, but if not, there are Facebook pages called Free Brisbane, Free Adelaide etc (think there is one for each state capital) where people list free events, a handy resource as there is a variety of things you may not otherwise know about.
