Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Hi @Determined

how many little ones have you got , they are young

there were 6 of us for afternoon tea , and my Mother in law loves dwelling on the negative all the time

Mr Shaz feels so low when we leave to go home

Mr Shaz thinks he is coming down with something

Today I feel yuk, sore neck, sore throat, headache --- ohhh nooo

Hello my special friend @PeppiPatty

how are you ?

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hope you don't end up with the flu @Shaz51, particularly the more virulent form aka the man flu which I hope Mr Shaz avoids too.

@Determined will be thinking of you back at uni this week. Hope you will have adequate concentration and that your darling will cope too.

@PeppiPatty hope you have a good week and manage to get in a bit of sewing and that Mr G is not so anxious.

@Faith-and-Hope, trust you will have strength for the week too and get stuck into one of your creative arts.

Hi everybody ....😊

That's the plan @Former-Member .... my hubby is heading away for a few weeks so I'm intending to set up my acrylic paints a bit more accessibly, and start into some projects I have in mind.

I hope it's a good week for all of you ....

Hi @Shaz51

I don't know if this will help. Hope I do not offend or if I have misinterpreted what you have written.

I would explain to doc the concerns you have shared here about increasing anxiety, reluctance to go to hospital, how you feel a pdoc review might be in order, how you are now off the books and starting from scratch is too hard.

I would also explain the worry you have in relation to this, especially being able to judge when to call an ambulance, the carer fatigue you are feeling and the need for some support.

Hopefully your GP will do a mental health plan which gives you access to 10 Medicare rebateable psychology visits and put you on to someone who you can connect with who will be able to help you with your concerns.

Hi @Shaz51 going back to the controlling topic..i notice that with my partner too..he recently lost his job and i as tourist visa cant work there in australia ..im relying on whatever income i could get from my business at my home country..but i didnt mention that to him coz he is kinda depressed as it is ..currently jobless and under centerlink pay..so i tried to budget the little money we have and he didnt know i pay up for some of the bills out from my own pocket..and he would tell me he will quit alcohol , pots and cigarette..and i am very happy about it and everything is ok ..but once he received money from his centerlink pay the first thing he will buy is a box of 30cans of beer..buy pots..and will leave me just a few money to buy food and pay bills..and after he finishes up his pots and alcohol he will be depressed again and would have his paranoia again..like im poisoning him or im just after the citizenship..to be honest im tired drained and feeling hopeless..last time i received all possible worst words a woman can receive..i know its not him but the illness that is talking but im human too i get upset hurt etc..then il try to walk away since he pushes me away from him..and the moment i will step away he will go back to his old self ..the man i love..he will say sorry and tell me he doesnt mean it..and the cycle continues..atm im in my home country ..hes at it again..but this time im not there he knew theres a chance i wont go back there ..i told him he needed help if he wants me back i want him to workout with me ..see a doctor take his meds..remove all alcohol pots smokes..and he admits himself at the hospital they transfered him to mental wards now..to be honest even if the cycle continues im still here and i still love him..and thank God i have people here that can relate to how i feel.

Hi @Maryjune

You are definitely not alone. Everyone here have similar experiences be it in different ways and forms but the root of the issue or the pain is the same. Definitely great to open up as there are lovely individuals here.

It is tough having someone you love who is 'hot and cold" in that sense. But it is great you stood your ground that he needs to change or sought help if he wants you back. It isn't easy being in this position but it shows what a great and loving individual you are. Do make sure you look after yourself first and foremost as your own mental health is important 😃
