Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

@Former-Member

the time is coming nearer to the surgery and experiencing anxiety myself I can relate to the fact that he is unsettled about the upcoming operation...

I found out yesterday that there is a problem with one of my blood test results....unusual were the words of the heart specialist and I have to go back to my gp to have further blood tests....for gp to then decide if any improvement in original reading or if same or if reading is worse referral to a hematologist....

I am coping most of the time but usually around mid afternoon I don't seem to be able to hold back or deter the anxiety....so hence psychiatrist has advised ok for me to take additional medication on a temporary basis....

I see the gp next week but am supposed to wait up to 2 weeks for next blood test

I am also going to be booked in for the scan.....

From our carer's point of view you have a double whammy....your own concerns....putting on a brave face for loved one....extra time out for self-care

as for older son .....his paranoia has increased ....from what he has told me ....harder to conceal from others....so of course I have grave fears that this is all going to come to a head soon.....

living in the now is proving more difficult as each new problem is added to the list...purely venting not looking for sympathy

I wish you and mr darcy all the best during the waiting game and surgery....

I wrote in another thread ....not sure which one....about my meeting of a neighbour who has lived in the area for 20years....we had a very long discussion with much laughing...our humour matching perfectly...most people do not understand my dry humour....last night my mobile rang and I saw her name...we talked and then I said I must go...my husband was waiting to spend time together....she then thanked me very much for the call ....telling me how lovely it was to hear from me...we definitely must go for a coffee....I agreed and thanked her.....then questioned myself....had I really seen her name and answered....I seriously had the mobile next to me and had not touched it....so could be interesting

take care

Hello @PeppiPatty, @Former-Member, @Former-Member, @Determined, @Faith-and-Hope

it has been raining on and off here all day , tuesday night we had a mini cyclone here , there was lightening and thunder for 12 hours -- it went on and on and on wow

we have done our food shopping and my mum`s shopping -- Mr shaz said we should get home delivery as he hates shopping

well, had to take mum back up to the hospital , she was given stuff for her bad cough and she has been getting worse than better, so this morning they took a scan and there is a shadow in her lung

@Shaz51...

Not good news about your mum... thoughts are with you.

Been raining all day here also which works for me as I have uni work to do, it eased off a little after lunch and my darling started with the anxiety about the long grass again so I went out to mow, by the time I got the mower going it was raining again. So now I am thoroughly wet. managed to cut the area that was causing the most disress. In my darlings defense it was quite long but not much I can do when it has been so wet.

Hope Mum picks up soon @Shaz51

Is Mr Shaz thinking on line shopping or just getting delivery once you have selected supplies? What do you think? I like checking out specials and new items in the supermarket. A work colleague loves the convenience of online shopping and hardly ever goes in store.

Hi @PeppiPatty @Shaz51 @Determined @Former-Member

@Former-MemberIt is low key. A kitchen pack sounds like a challenge but may also be fun. Have a go. I dont mind renovating this time. The first time I had babies and little children and it was VERY difficult.

I am not really handy because of my neck. I still need to seal up a window frame that had too much water on it. That is next job. Break up the jobs into little steps and make sure back pats are given for each step.

Phoned ex re son but he is busy today?

He has had free enjoyment of his premises for last 15 years. I am "working" at it.

I would not mind if I had a hut if my family were well, but sadly it is not the way of the modern world.

@PeppiPatty

Once I got my head out of the sand and learned about MI and its treatment I was able to advocate for Mr D, to give appropriate and relevant information as well as to ask the right questions. I listen to the pdocs very carefully now and consider everything they say, if they offer a treatment, we will not accept a script immediately but will look it up. I will explain to Mr D in simple terms the benefit v risk. If he is not comfortable about it I will explain my findings and will produce scholarly articles to pdoc, with the goal of ensuring Mr D can say no without fear and that he has good reason and not a lack of insight (very important to be able to say no without fear as he has been on a treatment order). There has only been once when we pulled the plug early into a trial of a drug as Mr D was starting to get concerning side effects.

Am always happy to get links to articles that will help me advocate better.
