Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @PeppiPatty, over here my special friend xx

Hello Everyone

Love to hear from others on the forum if you experience this

My hubby has been diagnosed with lots of things and has had MI all his life

do you find things goes ok and i start to feel confident and wanting to go forward and then everytime something always happens to upset it -- sometimes I think is it a controlling thing ?? that he wants to be in control ??

Don`t know if I am making this up , but i have that feeling ,

Hi @Shaz51
Hope Mum is picking up post surgery. Trust you are not too tired.
@PeppiPatty
I could do with a friend who helps clean our place, it is a skill that neither Mr Darcy or I possess.
@Determined
Hope things are steady for you

Thinking of you and your Darling, have you been able to get any rest yourself this week?

Hey @PeppiPatty

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hi @Former-Member

Feeling a little sleep deprived at the moment. Lots of driving to vist my darling with bub.

Darling thinks she is on track to come home next Tuesday, pdoc has to sign off on that one yet and I am not sure how it will go as she has been down the last couple of days. Mostly homesick though. Another day out as a family tomorrow, looking forward to that.

Thank you for your thoughts:-)

Trust things are looking up for you and Mr Darcy

Well done @Faith-and-Hope
How are you going? Do you have other things you do for R&R?
How is your significant other?

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hi @Former-Member ..... 😊

Thanks for asking. I have a grab-bag of different things I do for R&R .... have had very full-on commitments for a very long time, so one way of managing potential burn-out, a necessary way, is to self-nurture through developing your own interests and "me-time" beyond your commitments as a carer (have a disabled adult daughter as well as what is going on with hubby).

I am arty / crafty, s there is generally something on the go, including creative cooking. I am an avid reader. Walking is high in my daily agenda, but dependent on having someone at home to stay with my D2, because I need time-out from caring for her as well.

Significant other is on the same page .... this e.d. is a long-term struggle, although I believe I am seeing the indicators that he is starting to tip over into the second stage of what are referred to as Stages of Change.

It's a delicate balance .... my "baby dragons" .... seven teens and 20-somethings including DIL and SIL are becoming restless and challenging whether my perspective is correct, without having referred to e.d. support people as I have. They want to believe that my perspective is incorrect. That's my latest issue .....

How are you going ?
