Sometimes I feel like I’m on top of things and don’t feel like my trauma defines me and I don’t feel so ashamed and scared. Other times I want to hide from the world and feel like a **** (I’m not going to say the word here since I don’t want to trigger anyone) 😭, I feel so ashamed that I don’t want people to know
'Bad decision'? I'm interested to hear a little more? Or do you mean a way to cope?
What's happening on your end?

@tyme, a self-destructive way of coping. Not with the intention of hurting myself, but as a means to get relief.
I don’t know if I just need to give myself time. I’ve only taken PRN for 6 days straight, maybe it’ll get easier the longer I take it. But now it seems more like a reg med than a PRN. I’m on a low dose so my psychiatrist will probably end up prescribing it as a reg during next appointment.
It feels like these thoughts are crawling inside me. I think it generally gets harder later in the day. Usually better in the morning and after I take my meds at night

Would it be possible to speak to your doctor to review your current med @creative_writer ? Maybe your PRN DOES need to be part of your regular meds for a time.
In the past, there were times when I really thought I needed PRNs, however, because of staged dispensing, I was only given 3 per week. I had to use these wisely to ensure I had them for when I most needed them. Over time, I found other ways to cope instead.
It's best to speak to your doc about it.

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets
@tyme, I reckon the agitation started building up end of last year and got worse around mid Jan. I wonder if part of it is seasonal. More light=agitation and migraines. Less sleep=agitation and migraines. But I’m not really looking forward to winter either with darker days. My mood is often triggered by circadian rhythm. I suppose, there is room for improvement. When I was on holidays things got worse without the regular routine, there might be ways to minimise triggers. Like carrying small snacks, more water and electrolytes. Trying to take meds consistently at the same time at night to the best of my ability.
I won’t have issues with assessing PRN, since my PRN is an extra dose of antipsychotics which I take daily anyways. Sorry I’ve been heightened lately on the forums, it’s a lot worse when agitation meets depression. It feels out of control experience both hypomanic and depressive symptoms simultaneously. I know the meds have probably helped, I don’t want to think about where I would be otherwise, probably in a very bad mixed episode for a significant period of time. At least I feel symptoms fading with meds. The agitation does keep coming back though, but at least I’m not heightened 24/7 every day

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets
@tyme, it is frustrating that it may need to be increased for the time being, but it is still a low dose. Antipsychotics can leave your brain sort of foggy, but then I do need something to help me sleep or I wouldn’t be sleep enough. I managed okay sleep today at least, 8hrs or just under. Though it’s probably more typical for me to sleep a bit more.
I have been dealing with a lot of inner turmoil, I can become a bit obsessive with understanding things. It didn’t lead me to a great place. I spent hours trying to understand trauma, and ended up with a flashback too. My body feels okay again at least, but it’s hard to get the thoughts to stop. I mean we are human, we can’t understand everything, right?
Sorry, I feel like I am blabbering so much. How have you been today?

Re: Oscillation between two mind sets
I think the society and generation we live in is actually breeding busy minds. @creative_writer You are human. We all feel this way at one time or another and it's not easy.
I'm not going to lie - this week has been one of my longest and hardest weeks for a long time. Seeing to so many high-level things can be draining. It was a week bordering healthy challenge and stress. In other words, any small thing may have caused me to tip over to stress mode. (Just a note, it's factors outside SANE) SANE is my comfort, especially these forums.
Yet I'm not angry or upset with things. It's just what it is. I'm just being very mindful of my own needs right now so that I can maintain a healthy balance. If you know what I mean.

@tyme, it’s not only my MH, but I feel the need to understand a lot of things, hence you will find my googling random things. It is both a curse and blessing. It motivates me but at the same time I can get very caught up and spend hours reading and scrolling. It was kind of one of the reasons why I felt a research based placement worked well for me.
I think even those of us who don’t have MH struggles find themselves stressed during some weeks. I think our society also breeds this busy mentality that can get very overwhelming. There are so many competiting things one must do, it’s hard to always balance it. I hope you find a sense of balance and are able to take some time for yourself 💖

Very hot here yesterday @creative_writer Reached 39 where I work so the kids were drained after lunch. Luckily we have air conditioning so they came inside to a freezer lol
Really glad the week is over - still gaining strength from illness last week and a whole week has certainly not been good on my back.

@Zoe7, it was awful here too, I was lucky I finished uni by midday so got out before the peak. With the climate warming up, I think I will need to get an air con in my room. I wish I could’ve sat in my beauty fridge lol.
I hope you feel better soon, hon. Chronic pain is hard. It constantly exhausts you 💖🫂
